After the first two episodes of this season not really doing it for me, this one was more of a return to form.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH. Best one so far, the others were a bit chaotic and all over the place. Also, I loveeeee Ruibo Qian, hope she'll have some bigger roles soon :)

And there I thought, to make it even better, Stede should come to him like a merman… and then… my heart :sob:

Like last season, it takes its time to ease into the season's arc, but this time with more narrative confidence and a grasp on its own tone now, so it's much stronger. Of course the buzz is going to be around episode 3 and its gorgeous ending (that Kate Bush needle drop! merman Rhys Darby!) , but so many pleasures along the way. Darby continues to be delightful, and after being underwhelming onscreen/offscreen in both work and persona for a while, it's my reminder again that this series is Taika Waititi's best performance since What We Do in the Shadows. Plus Ruibo Qian's Zhen Yi Sao ("Girl, how are you?") and Anapela Polataivao's Auntie ("Men are so fucking emotional") are great additions. Excited to see where this season goes, and hope David Jenkins gets to finish his 3-season plan!
