Oh man, is this one brilliant. This is one of those premises that just write themselves - Phineas and Ferb as old school detectives? That's comedic gold right there and the episode never lets you forget with it's mile a minute gags and witty dialogue, including quite possibly the best CSI Miami in history. And having the main doll be literally called "McGuffin" is really, really funny.
But it's really the emotional core of the episode that pushes it forward to me. It's both poignant and heartwarming to see Doof and Vanessa bond like this, and seeing how much Vanessa actually does love her dad in spite of everything (as well as how much Doof simply adores his daughter) is such a breath of fresh air.
