[7.2/10] This was a fun one to watch after revisiting The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I think what I appreciated the most is how faithful the parody was in many ways. Everything from the playroom setup, to the honey-seeking quest, to the narrator’s tone and stuffed look of our heroes did a good job of paying joking homage to the Disney classic.

That said, I forget how pop culture-specific to the 90s a lot of Pinky and the Brain’s humor was. Oddly enough, the Mick Jagger spoof of Tigger feels as applicable now as it did in 1998, and I suppose the Christopher Walken shtick still kind of works. (It’s funny seeing a reference to Annie Hall in a kids show). But bits about Al Gore as a boring Clinton toadie and Bea Arthur make this thing feel pretty dated.

Still, there’s some amusing slapstick and good lines at play. (I especially enjoyed Brain saying “While I’d love to stay and listen to more psychotic ramblings...”). It’s not one of the show’s finest hours, but it’s a neat enough mix of a cartoon classic and some contemporary pop cultural targets.
