Oh, so heartbreaking! This show wasn’t bad but I felt like it had two great paths to explore and it ended up choosing a third not so great option. So there was the who-did-it way, with everyone in the conga line being a murder suspect, and we had good candidates, from the jealous teenager, to the bitter and creepy boyfriend’s dad, to the mistreated pregnant wife and so on, so from the mini trailer I watched I thought this show could be about Alicia going back to Jamaica/to the resort to investigate the murder, or visited everyone involved off and on the island. The other path was giving the focus to the island and the native people, and see how the DEATH (not murder) of a white girl impacted them to the point of ruining the lives of some of them. Which would’ve been something I haven’t seen before in a show. Instead it was all about the death girl’s sister and how she dealt with mental illness, grief, unresolved trauma, and that’s important too, but then you leave in the background two possible great plots: murder mystery or the island. But overall it was a good show.
Now back to the finale, I hate Tyler so much. Like he ruined everyone’s lives. Had he been honest about seeing Allison get back safe and then going into her room (not even the sex part), everyone would be so much better. Cause around that time Gogo and Edwin were arrested for drunk driving, so even if everyone believed Edwin and her had sex, they wouldn’t be the murder suspects; and Allison’s parents could’ve gotten closure. And then I didn’t agree with Emily not telling her parents, or I wanted her to release a statement to publicly exonerate Edwin and Gogo.
