Saved by the Bell: Season 1

1x01 Pilot

I was feeling it, until the line "white dingalings". Either poke fun at all races/creeds or none, otherwise what's the point of championing equality and tolerance?

At least I'm not missing anything I would regret by stopping at one episode. It's just very clearly not targeted to me (and that's fine). For a pilot for this modernization it could have been much worse. I think I actually like this pilot but I can feel the soapyness coming and it's going to be way too soapy for me something I didn't think I'd ever be in a position to say.

I do like the moments of realness. Slater actually having a moment with Devante after recognizing he actually did wrong was nice. Jessie calling out Slater for his fake "moment" earlier was also well done. Very much in character for both of them. Principal Todd's talk with Daisy was excellent. There are certainly aspects of the show to love regardless of your status re: The Original series

If Twitter was a show this would be the outcome.

The funniest part was using Franklin and Bash footage. When mentioning Zack was a lawyer once.
This reboot takes some taking used to from there. When it’s about Bayside. Since there’s no character too interesting in the new cast.
The theme music is rebooted too; which isn’t as catchy as the originals. It also doesn’t feel like Saved by the Bell without a laugh track.
If you love that everything is over the top PC these days. This is for you. For fans of the original, it may not be for you, at all.
There’s definitely not enough of Zack, Kelly, Slater and Jesse. Who us fans of the original would rather see more of.
