“If you look and see nothing… you must simply look harder.” I love Kiku’s bits of wisdom
The only thing I'm not liking about this show, is how many episodes we have left till the end, this story has been nothing but Epic
What a Bloody outstanding show! This is the first time I've ever wanted to give a show a genuine 11/10!
The writing brings out all of the respect, honour and dignity, even in deception. I love this epic and especially this episode (although once I see next week's episode I'll no doubt rave over that too), there is no dumbing down for the audience, you need to be immersed.
When 'Mariko' translating as she does 'Blackthorne's' words to 'Toranaga' and the sublime transition turning to 'Blackthorne' with eyes the sharpness of a sword, to ask "Shall I translate this too, or is this directed to me". Outstanding.
Each and every actor, no matter who they represent in this epic 'goes all in', for their character, their craft in acting is flawless. If there was any legitimacy in the Academy or in any entertainment award for actors, crew and show, Shōgun would do a clean sweep without exception, even though we still have two episodes to go.
Shōgun is definitely the pinnacle of any show I've had the privilege of watching in my six decades of life. This is not a throw away comment as I am an enthusiast in quality entertainment for most my life.
I cannot wait to own this on UHD Bluray boxset when it's released. Outstandingly Brilliant. 11/10
This episode was amazing. The dialogue was heavy as hell and I feel like every scene meant something significant. The last 10 minutes was crazyyyy. I can't wait to see what happens.
You get seppuku! You get seppuku! Everybody gets seppuku!
It's becoming a little on the nose and ridiculous... Otherwise, super episode and show!
So it was all just a trick?
Brilliant!
I loved this episode so much!
Can’t wait for the next two episodes :fire:
Wow, the ending was insane, at first I hated that you need to read those subtitles all the time but this show is worth it, would love them to add smth similar like in Warrior where they do smooth transition to English language for all characters form Chinese.
What an amazing hour of television. I was on the edge of my seat during the last 10 minutes. Will be very sorry to see this show end. I read the book and saw the original miniseries a very long time ago, and though I don’t remember much about them, I think this has them beat. The attention to detail is amazing, but also the characters are so well-drawn and acted. Hiramatsu!
Let’s super go! :muscle:
Wait...the Anjin can suddenly understand and speak enough Japanese to get by in normal life? Duolingo must've beat his arse when he left Toranaga. Additionally, love the failed Buntaro redemption arc. He does not deserve it, yet this episode made sure to turn him into a dark knight of sorts. I'm excited to see how both him and Mariko continue to beef it out.
Episodes 1-6 were outstanding in all aspects in my opinion, but can't say the same about the script on the episodes 7 and 8. 7th was very disappointing, 8th is better but still not at the level I was used to.

The dialogue and acting in this episode was actually outstanding, can't believe we're coming towards the end of the show already :(
