I was about to write "why didn't Lex tell his only friend the truth about the meteorite research," but then I remembered the giant secret Clark is keeping from him, so fair's fair, I suppose. Lex has to know, right? He was asking so many questions before and then he just says "What do they feed you on that farm?" and laughs it off? Something's up.
