This is definitely one of those series where the first season may have been a little lackluster, but it sets up events for the second season perfectly. This first episode leads me to believe that we’re in for a wild ride this season.
The first season was a little rocky for me, but I think it was all a good set up for this second season. This first episode of the new season has gotten off to a really great start and speaks to Melanie's character as a whole from her wit. intelligence, and background surrounding Wilford. Hopefully, things really get interesting as they face a new threat.
I had my doubts about Big Alice in the last episode, but
OH BOY
I laughed so much. I really appreciate all the whimsy Wilford brought with him. The trading of weed for fruits was such an awesome scene. Funny, rather memorable characters everywhere. The dynamics between Alex and "Dubs", aw.
Can they not just drop the last car from Snowpiercer or is that not convenient for the story???
Sean is a nice addition to the series.
The first season was quite mediocre, with a lot of bland and uninteresting characters. But this opening has me super interested. Sean Bean's performance is great, and I'm excited to learn more about Big Alice.
So second season arrived and quite clearly the idea is to keep things interesting with a new tension after the class struggle is magicly over. Sean Bean is a welcome surprise but somehow the story does not click. Big Alice is the supply train and in an earlier episode engineer Ben actually half sabotaged Snowpiercer's escape because of the immense supplies that were supposed to be there yet they are demanding eggs and a hen and pieces of fruit under life threats. Big Alice seems to be having a self-sustaining energy system as while Snowpiercer's residents seem to be freezing to death within minutes after stopping Sean Bean just proceeds to casually eat scrambled eggs. Also the fusing of the two trains is not explained well enough at least for me. And there are mutants... At least LJ the penis chopping half mad daughter of the super rich couple continues to act like an idiot ... why is she allowed to roam free again? Is she not a psychotic killer? A lot of questions but the whole episode and consequently the second series is sort of meh so far ... will take some getting used to.
Oh, here we go again, blaming Melanie for everything.
The fallacy annoyed me greatly last season, and it keeps going. Her daughter being all like "boo hoo you left us behind" and a scene later, she tells us how she herself CHOSE not to go with the men that Melanie sent for them.
Please, cut the crap.
I'm also annoyed at megalomaniac Wilford thinking he owns "the world"... well, kind of like Melanie described him. But then having brainwashed Alex so totally?
I don't know what I expected, but this is a minimum of 90% bad news and a terrible environment to start a series from.
What I find interesting is how they have such crazy advanced technologies apparently... but how, or how does Snowpiercer not have it, if that was the train intended to carry Wilfred? It's not like they started the train 100 years later? That doesn't really make sense. Hope they'll explain it, but I'm not expecting it to, seeing to that they are quite good with leaving plot holes.
Also, season one was a much more realistic post-apocalyptic showcase of class-struggle... but now, suddenly we get super-science, insane scientists and IDK what that ice-guy is supposed to be but... mutants? What the fuck?
I don’t usually like Sean as an actor. However I actually enjoyed his performance in his debut episode.
Maybe it’s I feel he is more suited to a “bad” character rather than “good”.
I was going to give up Snowpiercer when hearing Sean was going to take on the role, but after the season premier I am willing to give him a shot.
I will pass judgment later in the season.
Good twist to the story with the second engine. The falling snow and fallen snow seems to hold some relevance; I am intrigued!

Ok, bets are on. Will Sean Bean survive the entire second season? ;)
