Love the first episode - drama, mystery & laughs! Hoping this will continue as I'm hooked for the next episode!
Cliche son and mom relationship and cliche dead beat son as well. With that said it is fun and well cast. It also kept my attention.
This show is quirky and awful for technical minded people. You cannot determine a credit card bank by the last 4 digits of the card number on statement, an MP9 file is a CAD file, American Express customer service is hopefully more secure than depicted and the legal procedure is way off. I cannot recommend this.
As a kid, Todd wanted nothing more than to be a private detective. Now that he is, he’s quite good at it. The rest of his directionless life? That’s a bit of an unsolved mystery, especially to his uber-successful lawyer mom. So when she offers him a job as an in-house investigator at her firm as a way for him to get his act together, he reluctantly agrees, as long as Mom promises to let her adult son be who he wants to be.
So Help Me Todd has the whitest description for a TV show I've seen in many many years. So white and WASPy I got dizzy. And then I watched it. Marcia Gay Harden is an utter delight, how could I not. Rather than subverting it's premise. It basically is everything you imagine. Todd had a dream to be a private dick. Todd GOT to be a private dick. Todd does thing that are conspicuously odd but he gets away with it and then in the end Todd who lives with his sister gets a job from his Mother.
It's somewhat sympathetic that he does as an insurance investigator let someone off with a warning and that he lost his job because his boss was breaking the law. I'm sure that will be explored in further episodes.
Marcia Gay Harden was delightful as always.

How dare Marcia Gay Harden spoil Starborn for me? I was so looking forward to watch Madonna on that movie.
