I'm a big Sci-Fi and Horror fan and was once enamored with a different Gerry Anderson's series called "UFO", but I'd never seen an episode of "Space: 1999" before. There are few blogs that I've read that claimed this specific episode scarred them in their youth. Well, it wasn't very scary. In fact, I know what to expect of monster effects of the early '70s and the dragon featured here was barely able to sell the story.
But what was impressive were the miniatures and the way that the vastness of space was portrayed. Martin Landau and Barbara Bain were really good in their lead roles. Barry Morse's lambchop sideburns ruled! I may try a couple of additional episodes when time permits.
