Contrary to some of the other comments on this episode and series in general - by all means bring on season 2 and beyond. This is what Star Trek was and is supposed to be!

The "problem of the week" storytelling is what made TOS and TNG what they were, and I'm glad they stuck to it with this series. Discovery and Picard aside, I'm excited for where we go from here.

Trek as it should be! Great final episode of a fantastic first season. Can't wait for the next season. Why were there only 10 episodes?!

I thought this episode was really great.
Made me care again and anxious for another season.

What a great way to end the season. From the moment we saw that maroon movie-era uniform I had a feeling that we were in for something special. This weaved itself in with an alternate take on a classic TOS episode with great skill, as well as throwing in some fun stuff.

I particularly loved the way that they altered the lighting here to match the TOS style, with actor's eyes/faces smoothly lit up in highlights.

Was it a little too on the nose in it's tribute at points? Maybe. But I'm okay with it, and it had enough of a twist on things to make it work. Introducing Kirk this way was a deft, sneaky move and I liked it. And a cliff hanger ending! SNW, you have my attention and my heart.

A strong ending. I've loved the vast majority of this season. Eagerly awaiting more!

I enjoyed the season. Looking forward to season 2.

Incredibly good. A nearly flawless episode

Great season. So much better than that Discovery woke ass nonsense.

I'm a sucker for an alternate universe/timeline story. The time crystals bordered on magical in this one as opposed to previously just showing Pike his future but eh its easy enough to overlook for the content that we got. Will be interesting to see how they approach the Una situation given that they've pretty much such said the future is unchangeable and she was still locked up in that 7 year jump.

I got a bit emotional when Pike said Spock was important to him. Damn that a moment! And his walk around the bridge after. I'm really quite fond of this gang!

Best Star Trek ep yet. Took my favourite ep of the original series and actually made it better.

Though the choice of Kirk!? For some reason I just saw Jim Carrey!

loading replies

Thankfully that's over!
... And the whole Spock eyebrow thing, how forced was That! I don't think that I can remember seeing him do that before.
And the whole finale thing... really, is that what's happening?

There are people that will like this show, I don't understand how, but it's up to them. Taste is a personal matter, and subjective, but if there is any hope for this show, they have to get some writers that have some actual sci-fi passion and comprehension.

If there's a season two I hope y'all enjoy it.

Great season finale, and the whole season in general. But, it's such a shame we barely got to see Una. She was terribly neglected and underused. Hopefully, they'll give her more screen time next season.

umm... i'm going to address the elephant in the room here and i'm quite surprised no one has brought this up:

older pike told younger pike that sending the letter that saves the lives of these kids is a terrible mistake, and then promised to show him how, using the time stone from the klingon monks or whatever

but he never did! nothing in this vision explains why these kids need to die, why pike needs to die and how the whole incident is even connected to the future events shown in the vision - there is no connection - none of it is ever explained, not even a little bit

how does older pike know that these things are connected and the accident is some sort of turning point in history? how do the monks know it? why doesn't younger pike question this theory? how does anybody know that this specific event going in a specific way is the only way to prevent the death of spock and the escalation of the war?

the causality of it all is never shown nor is it explained, yet for some reason everyone acts like it's a given - wtf?

Quite good fan episode up until the BS last minute ending.

Best episode. Time travel. Kirk. Bird of Prey. No modern age political agenda checklist. Scottie.

Might want to watch TOS S01E14 slightly ahead of this :)

I actually enjoyed this finale. I was honestly expecting the show to take a 7 year period to find a way to save like but I like this. I guess the gorn are gonna be the enemy for at least a couple seasons. Not bad but eh

Can’t wait for Paul to come on as Kirk more next season and obviously we have to get number one back. I swear every shows has a character that shouldn’t be in starfleet because of some stupid rule and we have to spend an episode fighting for their freedom. Hopefully like the old series it’s wrapped up in episode 1 next season and not dragged on.

fantastic season!

It would have been very funny if Spock looked to his right after the other crew members did the same when they saw the Romulans for the first time. Second best episode. First was best, others were just alright. I wasn't a fan of Number One. The Captain lady is hot

Good episode although the explanation that Spock who has some kind of higher destiny (namely reuniting Romulus and Vulcan) dying/being permanently incapacitated is a bit far-fetched. Especially in the future shown, Romulans and Federation are at war whether Spock's there or not.

And why doesn't Pike simply resign instead of going to teach at the academy? This would free up his position on the Enterprise for Kirk, it wouldn't in any way impact Spock's future... Sorry, but this whole future-what if, that if Pike doesn't get irradiated and saves those cadets Spock invariably must die/take over his fate, is just very weak. And what was Ortega's beef with the Romulans? I mean, granted, they killed the people on the outposts but in Balance of Terror Stiles had personal reasons for his hatred... This transfer to Pike's crew didn't really work for me (but then again, I adore Balance of Terror). And let's better not talk about Kirk.

Couldn't care less about Una - good riddance, get Spock in the first officer position already. Wonder if Scott's going to appear next season, or even Sulu.

It's funny how I just finished The Vampire Diaries now and the actor who plays Captain Kirk (Paul Wesley) is one of the main characters in that series.

Season finale. The series has surprised me for good.
You see your future and something bad happens
a) You do nothing and it happens
b) Trying to avoid it ends up happening
c) You make it not happen
What will happen? whatever the writer wants

Ladies and gentlemen, we have it: peak trek is back. After the fever dream that was Discovery and Picard, I am so glad to have seen this series. I can't wait to see if there's a season two!

I don't know how fake time crystals are supposed to work.
And, the term Klingon Monks seems like a contradiction of terms....
But, neither got in the way of my suspension of disbelief... this felt real, from the moment he realized he recognized one of the names from his list, and it was sad.
