Kind of bland all round, with the only interesting moments being a couple of tiny scenes with Wesley and the Gatherer leader. There's an attempt to look at hatred and prejudice, but it doesn't come across with any force or meaning.

That may be because of the focus on Riker's romantic interest in Yuta. She's far too much of a blank character to give this any weight.

There's also the big question of why he didn't just stun her at the end, unless I missed something.

Clan wars and prejudice, there's always plenty of that around

The idea of the clan wars and the blood feud isn't bad. Especially since Picard mentioned that human history had similar events. Or still does from our vantage point.
However the execution wasn't very good to say the least. It lacks emotional weight and investment in the character of Yuta. Just because Riker had an interest in her (which, again happens out of the blue and way to fast. The curse of episodic TV) I don't automatically. She was between a rock and a hard place, struggling with her choices, but ultimately choose a way. In the end her death was use- and senseless. Leaving Riker no other alternative. But it all felt flat because of the mentioned lack of investment in her character. The negotiations with the Gatherers took too much away.

The more often I watch this episode, the less I like it. To start with, we kind of had this scenario before when the Irish farmers had to resettle to the clones. Two different societies that need to find common ground. In a way, I like Casanova-Riker. However, I think it's very unprofessional of him since the Enterprise is kind of neutral ground. Can't shag a confidant of one party. I mean he doesn't, but he wanted it badly. I'm always amazed how fast he falls for girls. That quick that I didn't really care about her or his feelings. I don't like the space Highlander/Mad Max race either. Strange guys in the same-same old paper mache cave (enriched with some filming and stage equipment). Not for one second I believe that they managed to become space-born.

The whole plot is just dull and forgettable. In fact that literally what happens. I almost forgot that this episode exists.
