Back in 1999 I didn't watch the show on a weekly basis. The early seasons were too disappointing. I was never really hooked. Season 4 marks kind of an resurrection but writing in season 5 was still inconsistent. Season 6 is entertaining though. Yes, admittedly, there are some weaker episodes (like holo episodes and the inevitable "Harry, the Lover" episode), but overall it's a pretty solid season. Season 6 is perhaps the best season of the show. It's of course still mostly Seven and Shmullus who contribute to my overall satisfaction. There's perhaps too much Borg in it but given the other races in the quadrant are so dull, I'll take them. I've lost all hope the writers are able to invent an interesting new foe/civilization/coalition for the Delta Quadrant from scratch (like they did with the Gamma Quadrant's Dominion in DS9) - it's too late anyway. Most liked episode: Pathfinder (albeit the massive fan-service). Best theoretical concept/theory: Blink of an eye. Most funny but w/serious undertones episode: Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy (Life Line and Virtuoso are other entertaining Shmullus episodes).

Star Trek: Voyager rejoins the TNG universe in Season 6, and begins to have regular crossovers with actors Dwight Schultz (Lieutenant Barclay) and Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi). Beginning with the episode “Pathfinder” Voyager established contact with the Federation, allowing the writers to explore new avenues. And, the ship takes on a contingent of Borg children after running into a damaged cube in “Collective,” forcing Seven to take on a mentoring role; passing on what she has learned about humanity, and helping them on their path to becoming individuals. The Doctor also finds himself facing new challenges, such as assuming command of Voyager (“Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy”), being offered a new life to explore his musical talent (“Virtuoso”), and transmitting himself to the Alpha Quadrant in order to save his creator (“Life Line”). Season 6 of Star Trek: Voyager takes a lot of risks, resulting in a remarkably daring and exciting season that ranks as one of the best of the series.
