[4.0/10] I’ll be honest. I’m not sure I can even tell you what happened in this episode. I have the basics. The Fromms kidnapped Thall’s friend and Kea’s mom. Our heroes give up the location of the Trigon weapon. Then they somehow commandeer the Trigon weapon and...crash it into the Fromms’ stronghold? But before it hits they rescue everyone and escape?
I don’t want to pretend the story is overly complicated. Convolutedness is not the issue here. It’s more that this episode did so little to hold my attention. There’s more pointless and unfunny Threepio slapstick. More bickering and bantering from dull characters who’ve barely been fleshed out. More stakes free escapes from yet another villainous fortress. In many ways, “The Trigon Unleashed” is a repeat of the first episode of the series, only somehow less interesting.
The best you can say for this one is that there’s some minor joy to be had from Tig riding high and getting into his father’s good graces, only to muck it all up again in the end. And I guess Artoo having a favorite T.V. show starring other astromech droids is kind of cute. But otherwise, this was bland nonsense that could barely keep me from zoning out. Really the dregs.
