[7.0/10] It’s nice for every generation to get their own Captain Planet or The Lorax stories. This one is pretty basic. But the bad guy who doesn’t care about destroying ecosystems is a solid, if typical villain. And the cute little animals who live in the trees he cuts down is a good way to communicate to the younger audience the harm of environmental degradation.
Story wise, there’s not much more to it than that. It’s nice to hear Haley Joel Osment staying in the Disney game in the shadow of his Kingdom Hearts pedigree. The skriffles are cute little guys. Raxlo’s anthropomorphic birdie design is distinctive and memorable. And the set piece where they take down the harvester is well done.
Overall, crusty old grown-ups like me have seen this sort of story a million times, but this is a solid rendition of it for the younger set.
