A better episode than the pilot, and this acts as something of an epilogue to it. The surprise twist of Kawalski being infected by a Goa'uld makes for a fairly gripping 45 minutes.
The cast still haven't settled into their roles and there's some understandable awkwardness. Daniel in particular seems somehow uncaring and General Hammond is a bit harsh (although, I do like his no-BS attitude). I like that this one firmly establishes that 1) continuity between episodes will be a thing, and 2) that the show won't be afraid to kill off established characters..
This one also gives us the beginnings of some nice world building as we learn a little bit more about the enemy and what they've been doing with human beings across the galaxy.
