I just love this season premiere. Mitchell is a good replacement for Jack and Vala is a fun addition to the team. I also love the Merlin storyline of this season.
The introduction of Cameron Mitchell feels extremely abrupt when watching this show through on DVD as opposed to the wait we had when watching the live broadcast back in 2005. It's difficult to know what to make of him at first, but his exuberance does kind of win me over. It helps if you're a fan of Farscape too, I guess (I'm so-so on it).
Vala is a welcome sight for me. I like the puzzle solving mystery aspects of this one and that it introduces some medieval European mythology, even if this giant reset for the show is quite a lot to take.
I hate huge gaps between seasons. We leave off with everyone enjoying their time at the pond and then we have no team? WTF?
The new guy is really sub standard. Where did they find this guy? And yet they give him top billing? Wow...
And we have Vala again... so annoying...

A guest character I never particularly liked returns and the show is gearing up to replace even more of the core cast that I love? And it's all wrapped in a trite, Indiana Jones kind of story? No thanks. Meh.
