I've never read 'It' by Stephen King and haven't seen the more recent film adaptations either. So I went into this two-part series from 1990 without any prior knowledge. And overall, I think it's okay for a TV production. But I'm not really that impressed. The effects are too weak, the pacing is too slow, and the actors are rather weak. Pennywise's look isn't necessarily scary, either. I also find the first half, which is still largely set in the 1960s, much more interesting. In the second half, there is never any tension, and the plot tends to go in circles. All in all, this is nothing more than a solid TV production that has its moments but also wastes a lot of potential.
