[4.6/10] The 1st season of The Challenge was originally titled Road Rules: All Stars and took on the original premise of Road Rules, only with The Real World cast members.
This was a short season (only 5 episodes), and was really there to boost the ratings on MTV. From what I’ve read, whenever MTV did their first Road Rules/Real World crossover episode, there was a huge ratings spike. So this was just an experiment to see if people were interested in seeing their favorite Real Worlders at the time coming back on MTV.
The reason why this is a bottom tier season is that the daily tasks were just boring. It was literally just “The Real World on a Road Rules Bus.” Future seasons would have more entertaining personalities.
