The Crown: Season 2

2x10 Mystery Man

I can’t believe this was the last time we’ve seen Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth. I’m not ready to let her go yet.

What a grand season finale and the epic end of an era for this show. On the one hand I'm very sad, that this was the last time we'll see Claire Foy portraying Queen Elizabeth II as she did a stellar job, but on the other hand I can't wait what for Season 3 and what a new actress (Olivia Colman) will bring to the character. As for the other actors, I'm also sad to see them go, as they also did a brilliant job portraying the royal family and those around them.

When talking about this final episode of Season 2 it clearly concentrated on Elizabeth's and Philip's marriage. And this in my opinion was the best way to end the season as their relationship was very strained throughout the whole story arc of Season 2 and was in desperate need of some sort of closure (at least for this season).

Long story short The Crown is imo one of the best (if not the best) show on television right now with groundbreaking performances, great storyarcs (with lots of history) and beautiful cinematography. I really can't wait for Season 3.

This is a Claire Foy appreciation post. Throughout the two seasons, she had the impossible task of conveying her insecurities and struggles precisely through trying not to show any signs of weakness. She was performing two roles - one of a stoic queen and one of the person Elizabeth trying to navigate the world of monarchy and politics - and she beautifully melds the two roles together to make us sympathize with her and root for her. I am excited to see what Olivia Colman will bring to the role but Claire has set a tough act to follow.

I didn’t expect to love this series as much as I do. And I didn’t expect to miss this incredible cast as much as I know I’m going to. Major shoes to step into, all around.

Did she call Churchill an elected quitter ? Who refused to resign on more than one occasion if I remember correctly. And Macmillan was Prime Minister for almost seven years. I would hardly call that quitting.
