The Exorcist: Season 2

2x01 Janus

A solid return for a smart and scary show. I'm finding the nascent Washington state story to be more compelling than the more evolved Montana one, but the handprints connecting the two really have me wondering what's going on here. At the very least, something seems to be calling out to Fr. Tomas to head farther west. In addition to Fr. Tomas and the defrocked Marcus Keane, I was glad to hear a mention of Fr. Bennett and to learn that he will continue to play a role here, as all three men form one kickass team. And lastly, it was great to hear the movie music there at the end. I don't recall hearing it at all in season one, but I could just be misremembering things.

A good episode, but it left me a little confused. I hope I get some answers as the season goes on, because I was definitely expecting something closer to season one here.

I didn't enjoy the first season, but I really like the change of settings and the new characters. I'm hopeful.

Not as strong as the first season so far, but good nevertheless.

I was hoping this would be an American Horror Story type anthology show, the same cast with different characters and storyline season over season. That clearly isn't the case here, and every last hint of the William Peter Blatty inspired plot is gone. Regardless, thrilled this is back, and hoping it stays as fresh, dark and frightening as the title "The Exorcist" implies.
