[7/10] Not the world’s most auspicious start for The Simpsons, but not bad either. I saw this short as part of the 138th Episode Spectacular, so it’s not totally fresh, but it’s still interesting to see it in its original, slightly choppier form. There’s even a good structure to it here, with goodnights to each of the three kiddos before the well-meaning but ill-fated parental advice just spooks the kids more. And Maggie even (sort of) talks! It’s a long way from the Simpsons we know and love, with particularly crude character designs, but it’s not bad either.
