1x12 Isabella

Wow, just wow. Going to run out of superlatives to use to praise the show with. Brilliant episode, and I teared up quite a bit when Tony's family were visiting him in the hospital, and Meadow audibly showcased just how much she cared and worried about him. That kind of stuff really gets to me. And of course Tony in his zombified state can't help but draw empathy, not least when he tells Dr. Melfi about his daydreaming fantasy; "It's okay little baby, don't cry, it's gonna be okay..." Just great all around.

Also can't help but repeat: fuck Tony's mom, whether her dementia is real or faked. (The infanticide talk and his fantasy seem to suggest that she might actually have given the information to Junior with more than just wanting to get back at Tony small-time. It would also suggest that she's now faking the start of a situation wrt the dementia.)

this episode was absolute fucking genius. love it.

Great episode. Isabella, Camilla, Livia, Jennifer: for good or worse, there's some great female protagonists in this episode. Can't wait for what's coming next. He'll find out who did this. Eventually. And I want to see that.

Lithium is a hell of a drug.

The tension of the looming execution… how it wasn’t diminished one bit by the knowledge that this season wasn’t over yet, let alone the multiple seasons to come. And Gandolfini’s achingly real yet unglamorous portrayal of depression, and the episode’s big twist. All together, it results in the series’ high point so far.
