Absolutely brilliant. I didn't know what's what in the end anymore and wtf really happened to those kids, but it was hilarious.
"Then, there are those who care not about extraterrestrials, searching for meaning in other human beings. Rare or lucky are those who find it. For although we may not be alone in the universe, in our own separate ways, on this planet, we are all... alone."
Funny episode. Scully's censorship in her story telling was hilarious. "Oh, you bet your blankity blank bleep I am!"
Hilarious opener in this episode!
Actually, the whole episode is hilarious.
Another terrific Darin Morgan-penned episode. The highlight for me was all the chatter between Scully and Jose Chung (played brilliantly by Charles Nelson Reilly).
A funny episode, no question.. But why? What‘s the purpose of this episode?
Just because an episode is non-formulaic doesn't mean it's good.
The plot is basically an elaborate coverup disguised in wacky antics. That's it. There is very little investigation, no villain, no good character moments, no good character development. It's nearly all wacky antics with little depth.
Great series for those who grew up in the 89/90s.
The truth is finally out there
This is it. This is the single greatest episode in X Files history.
One of my all time favorite off-arc episodes. Brilliant showing by Charles Nelson Riley.
Excellent episode which is quite funny. Scully is being interviewed for a book written by Jose Chung, who is portrayed by Charles Nelson Reilly. This features smoking aliens and an underground alien lifted from one of Ray Harryhausen's Sinbad movies. All types of alien lore is included here, abductions, alien autopsy, hypnosis, the works. There are several funny moments like Mulder yelping in fear when he sees a dead alien body and Mulder eating an entire sweet potato pie. This is taking a major jab at Whitley Strieber and his abduction books like "Communion".
Secondary characters in this episode: None
A very funny episode, this one is the first in the series to be that funny really. I liked it ^_^
What the writer said at the end of the episode is very true "For, although we may not in our own separate ways, on this planet, be alone in the universe, we are all... alone!"
Hilariously dumb episode. You can safely skip this one.
