Tokyo Vice: Season 1

1x02 Kishi Kaisei

It’s a slow burn so far but that works for shows of this format. I was surprised Sato and Jake got along so well, I’m curious their relationship going forward. Also wondering where the random tidbits of Samantha end up.

52 | There was no real progression for this series's story. It felt so dragging and boring because it was full of small talk that lead to nowhere. It became worse with the awkward acting of most of the characters. Another series called Chernobyl did the language perfectly because it changed the entire Russian language into English, but in Tokyo Vice, it tried to use two languages that were badly executed. It felt this show only need Japan as a location, but they ignored its culture. Jake as a foreigner did not feel like it because all people around him speak English anyways, even a person he just met. Sometimes Jake forgets that he was in Japan.

Slightly better than episode 1 but it still is so awkwardly hamfisted with its soapboxing.
