When they are filming on location - seems to have been real Vienna - then they should also take the time for the details. There is no airport Semmering and the WESTbahn (the train is not red) doesn’t go to Semmering. I first thought they choose it because of the landscape but we didn’t see any of that …

The season is shaping out to be an improvement over the previous season, save for a few story flaws. "Jack Ryan" is most appreciated when it isn't taken too seriously since, despite its appearance as a serious political thriller, it falls short of that standard. It becomes much more enjoyable if you treat it like a popcorn action series.

So, Greer's heading to Prague to have a talk with the president, and Jack's turning up in Vienna in his investigation about Sokol. And we learn that there's a whole cabal planning to resurrect the Soviet Union, including (maybe solely led by) Kovac's father and including the new Russian defense secretary.

Not sure why the writers decided that the take-down should take place in Semmering - which is a rather small town (without an airport, mind you), the only really distinguishing feature is the railway tracks built into the mountains with its viaducts... but we don't really get to see those as the whole scene is set during the night. Otherwise, quite enjoyable episode with plots within plots, secret conspiracies and, as per usual, an interagency fight.

This is challenging to follow with my spotty memory of characters and details. But I guess that's what I like about it. It isn't perfect but it's good enough (not remotely believable tbh but it doesn't feel too stupid/silly).

A muddy Ferrari, Wien Hauptbahnhof, a water syringe, and Luka is an ally (quite the game he's playing). The train's door definitely wouldn't open electronically while it's moving. One could likely use the mechanical emergency fallback but that would probably either automatically stop the train or raise an alarm (and then the driver might stop the train). Anyway, Greer can somehow look so funny/cute when just standing there (when he waited for Alena) and Petr Kovac seems very despicable (even shooting his "allies" in the back).
