Wrong summary: like the title says they buy an S-type R but with high milage.

I know one shouldn't be nitpicky with a car reality show but I do it anyway: the water in the oil could've only been there since the last change, no ? The guy Mike's bought the car from hasn't changed it as he said he'd had it for nine months and its mentioned in the episode last service was two years ago. That gives you a window where you could have checked if an owner actually lived by the sea. That way they couldn't have shown the usefull tools to check the engine, though. So, all is well.
And concerning milage: I'd be just as worried buying a car that has just done a thousand miles per year on average over a twenty year span.
