The Last Witch Hunter

Much better than the critics give it credit for. Lots of fun.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

This is a good movie, interesting and fun.
That said the one true conceit the academy has is that they consistently overrate movies about being in the business.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: 6x07 Once More, with Feeling

This might be the best single episode of a TV show ever produced.

Wanted

I love this movie. No idea where the hate comes from.

Moonlight

Moonlight is an absolutely phenomenal film and worthy of all the accolades.
It is however slow paced, and that's a tough sell to a certain audience. In my 20s I would not have had the patience for this film, I'm not sure I would have in my 30s either.

Metropolis

This movie isn't as good as you've been told. The fact is, no movie that is 100 years old is going to present well to a modern audience unless you take into account the period the film was made. If you put it into context Metropolis is ground breaking and amazing.
The story is compelling and the visuals interesting. Brigitte Helm nails her parts and was fearless in her portrayal of the robot Maria. If you're a film student, cinema historian or just a hardcore cinephile you will probably your enjoy your time with this film.

The Fabelmans

The Fabelmans is a well crafted and acted movie that will delight fans of cinema.
It's a bit overrated (98% on RT?!) as any movie that is about making movies tends to be, but even considering that it's still great.

30 Days of Night

In my opinion, vampire movies are almost never scary, and the only reason I have to qualify that comment with the word "almost" is because of 30 Days of Night. It is the only vampire movie that is genuinely scary, and stands as one of the best vampire movies period. It does have the common issue of the vampires randomly being slower and weaker when fighting with our heroes, but other than that everything else is solid. This movie is an easy recommend for anyone who likes vampire movies or horror, and still good for everyone else.

Spartacus

I'm surprised to find that I don't believe this movie holds up to modern audiences. It has some good cinematography and is good for its time, but not that watchable today. Only Kubrick fans who want to be educated on his early work should watch this. Kubricks previous movie, Paths of Glory, is a much easier recommendation and a much more reasonable length as well.

Contagion

A fantastic movie about the spread of a global virus that manages to provide drama and show the seriousness of an epidemic and the lives of some of the major players without degenerating into sensationalism. Right now I'm finding that I want to see more of this but realizing that there is no other movie quite like it, everything else is forced drama and over the top.
