the movie is riddled with clichés and tropes. every scene, moment a child can predict. cliché!!.
it has released much early in my country by the way. and I don’t think anyone cares for a SPOILER in this movie/franchise??. but you’ve been warned none the less
u almost think. oh wow, I did not expect that to happen. good work. NOPE SURPRISE!!! that’s exactly cliché thing which was supposed to happen.
some dumb person smiling and being happy that he escaped a dino. nope he will be EATEN!!!!.
every henchman in the bad guy's team was an animal cruelty symbol. u know so that we would try to root for the poorly written "so called" good guys I guess....
the dialogues are also cliché. "holy shit" "you have to see this”. we have all heard this before.
it was like this movie was written with a book of cliché’s nearby. I don’t get it, this is a sequel right? so why can’t they do something new. carry things on. why do they have to have the very same moments throughout all the series. it’s almost like they are welcoming "new audiences" to the franchise. and so there u go: here is 1 unrelated guy eaten by a huge dino. here is a scene where someone barely escapes. here is a classic "safe" dinosaur with relaxing bg music for all chars to see. typical Jurassic movie tropes here.
and to fill things up they also had some horror tropes for no reason. even some non dino ones!!. like a little girl scares her nanny. and we as audiences have to witness few seconds of a scene where it felt like we are watching a murder movie.
the characters are horribly written.
why are we supposed to root for Owen (Chris Pratt) again? he seems like a jerk. who doesn’t care for anything at all ever but himself. Claire breaks up with him every time for some reason... (but its ok because they will get back together of course, because... movie). he had abandoned his care for dinosaurs. and we never know why. pretty ex gf just guilt trips him over one beer and he is ready to join the adventure. WHY??? WHAT CHANGED HIS HEART? WHY HE BECAME ASSHOLE IN THE FIRST PLACE??
and oh btw. it happens in the cliché scene again.
where they wait for him at the plane runaway. and oh nooooo he is not gonna come :(.
SURPRISE. he is already there!!!.
Bryce Dallas was told to look pretty and act pretty. that’s pretty much it. and she is all "dinosaurs must be free" now.... because...... I don’t know... movie... again. what happened? what changed her mind??. is it because franchise kicked off and we must root for these people now.
why break them up????? why do we get to see their intro all over again. because hey the next time they fall asleep. girl's hand will be all inside Chris Pratt’s shirt. (IT HAPPENS!!!)
is this even a sequel? it feels like a reboot of a reboot. this person was trying to commercialize dinosaurs and was pretty much a huge jerk aunt to those kids (who were so annoying and thus I’m glad they are not here btw)
the "villain" is this guy, who knows Claire from before and he explains to her why they must save the dinosaurs into this new place (oh please, we know you’ll be the bad guy, we have read book of cliché’s too movie)
he ultimately brings the dinosaurs for an auction back to the city.... without anyone realizing anything.... man these guys could run the country if they're so powerful and covert
there are 2 stereotypical nerds. with franklin written so bad that I wanted him dead asap. overacting AF. seriously. if u tell me u like him you are just a casual moviegoer or a troll. I can’t describe him more without the need of punching something.
there is a scene exchange between him and the leader of the capture team. where just within 2 seconds he is taunted "Can u open this door tiger" something like that. and the door like practically immediately opens. and this nerd is like. "there u go, tiger". yeah nice comeback
minutes later they are locked in and this guy acts like he knows nothing now. he keeps being a weirdo and and changes his motivation within seconds of a scene just for weird humor.
horribly inconsistent characters.
during the first encounter with Owen’s friend dino raptor blue. (who also was not a reason enough to come join this mission for Owen, "let them die" he said)
the capture team people go bad. (because cliché) and they shoot blue and Owen. fine.... but now the nerd girl who was 2 minutes ago showing off to this team as a badass girl because "girl power" I guess? is now taking a gun and pointing at the.... ok ... for what.. will u really shoot them? they did not really kill Owen or the dino. how badass are you u want to show??
and they all ready to shoot her too. but due to some illogical argument which I really don’t want to get into. this "Mexican standoff" stops but the guys shrug her off.
there is this little girl's character who is shown to be a complete Mary sue at first. she can go anywhere to listen in on conversations way too smart for her age. she is not afraid. she is a daredevil , not afraid of heights at all. u know what. I’m all cool for powerful child characters if the movie is ABOUT THEM!!. this was really awkward. the worst part like I said how character arcs go haywire. as soon as she encounters her first dinosaur. she is screaming at the top of her voice. and then continuing to do that till the movie ends.
hey u know what, don’t show me a dinosaur loving young girl afraid of nothing at all at first and then since she is a girl, she has to scream unbearably loudly every time something is happening and then keep hugging chris pratt for no reason. instead of probably claire which would make more sense. stick to your character traits maybe...
cliché moments and cliché characters. yes, I am using the word cliché a lot. but that’s what I was rubbed with in my face in few hours ago.
there is an auction going on where they present the dinosaur in the huge case which I am sure pretty much hides all the bidder to the auctioneer. but movie!!!
lot of moments of story did not make sense. and I don’t want to spend more time for them.
the cinematic moments like the dinosaur roars and everything were same old same old. so, it’s a dino fatigue at this point. nothing new and fresh for it. I was seeing in this Imax and wanted to be blown away and scared probably. but it did not happen. it’s really like they are catering to a fresh new audience rather than people who see and remember movies, like the first parts!!!!
The set pieces although feel fantastic at first end up being anti-climactic. The whole third act takes place in that huge manor where the auction takes place. After which there are teases for the sequel. Why does every movie want to be a franchise so badly? First be good and people will throw themselves over your movies and wait day by day for sequel. Me included. But this shove in your face teases after your average movie makes me want to punch someone!! “The dinosaurs are free in this world now. So get ready for awesomeness you wanted in this movie, in the next part!!!” Yeahhh!! F***!!!!!!!
Jeff Goldblum was shown in trailers. and thats exactly how long he will stay in the movie, couple of minutes. why show him in your trailer and ruin a cool surprise which could have saved this movie otherwise marred by cliche's and average writing.?? and if you show him like that. maybe use him much more in the plot......
I really enjoy movies and am more than happy to suspend my disbelief as much as possible. but it was not possible here. so, I’m not thrashing on this movie for no reason. it really was bad.
that being said. few positives here are:
the special effects are spot on. couldn’t really complain here. it’s sad how much potential can be wasted.
also, I have nothing really against the actors. I am sure most of them were doing their best and are talented. the writing and the direction lead to this mess.
the sound and music were decent.
if you are a casual audience this movie is perfect. you will NOT be disappointed. but if you are an avid moviegoer. tired of tropes and repetitions and also somewhat of critic. get ready for a lawsuit because you would have punched someone sitting on your side or front.
definitely won’t be watching this again even if I have time and money to kill. not even years later on streaming I think
enjoy!
If you love Deadpool 1, you WILL be disappointed! But otherwise . Good movie on its own
Unless you are a fanboy(i mean this without being rude). its ok if you personally love it. But yes it is not as funny as Deadpool 1, full stop.
Deadpool 1 had a simple plot a simple storyline, simple budget. And so they killed it in writing, the jokes 4th wall breaks were off the chart. It was character driven story.
Deadpool 2 is a plot driven story. and the plot is just weak. The plot center is this kid Russell who is not well written and turns out to be annoying and not worth it honestly. But to each his own I guess.
Deadpool himself kills it and tries to carry it throughout. If you can love the movie solely on that. You will enjoy it.
Lot of jokes may not pander to international audience easily. I had hard time understanding few lines. But I can imagine they are funny. Will see it again with references
Cable was good, but underused in my opinion. I was expecting him to blow Deadpool's mind and imagining them to be each other's throat throughout the film.
That does not happen. The plot shifts. Cable joins deadpool. actually saves him in the end. while the villain is juggernaut. xmen 3 last stand memories anyone??
I saw DP1 again recently before seeing DP2 and I was laughing out loud at most stuff and the movie kept me hooked. DP2 does not do that. There are scenes in which I was waiting for things to move along.
It also suffers from the "trailer" effect. You know where you have seen most jokes and cool stuff in the trailer itself. And then in the movie you expect more but end up with nothing.
One awesome joke I found in trailer was Deadpool saying to Domino that YESS XFORCE IS DERIVATIVE!! . They cut it for some reason. He simply ignores her and says NO ONE ASKED FOR UR OPININON PETER. I mean why??
Some humor felt forced dare i say. I mean too much MCU and DC remarks.
but some humor really kicked ass.
In short I may not want to see it again on theaters. Deadpool 1 I could have seen it over and over agian.
Many people may disagree. I write this objectively.
Good Luck.
UPDATE:
went for it the second time. (because i had time to kill and i was nearby).
i do not want to redact anything. i stick by my comments and score. "you can enjoy this. but not as good as dp1"
there are lot of referential humour instead of contextual ones so some jokes will be hard to understand as i said before.
Warning Lot of Spoilers ahead for THIS MOVIE & Avengers Endgame( if you havent seen endgame and are seeing dark phoenix, u belong in a museum).
Wont use spoilers tag. will be too many.
Remember when captain america picked up the hammer.
Remember "avengers assemble".
Remember all the cool moments from so many awesome movies. hell even the previous xmen movies.
Good luck trying to find them here. Not a single cinematic moment created in a comic book movie full of wonderful and loved characters played by talented actors. How do you F*** this up.....
The movie starts of with so much promise. And then we see Jennifer Lawrence, (who btw is not in the mystique makeup coz she is a huge star now. whatever happened to "mutant and proud"), scolding Charles that X-men should be called X-women now...
And then 2-4 people clapped and laughed in the theatre. #CringeAlert
wow...
soo.... i guess Hank, nightcrawler, quicksilver and scott are not men......
enough already with this sjw nonsense.
It is all downhill from there. The writing and direction is just bad. It is tragic that this is the last xmen film of this "continuity/saga" under Fox.
I cant believe im saying this but Xmen Apocalypse was so much better. I cant believe im gonna say that EVEN Xmen 3 the last stand at least had some coherence and a plot driving forward compared to this lost cause.
The villain is played by jessica chastain who is playing............. YEAH I DONT KNOW. i have to go to wikipedia or google to probably find out . otherwise she is just there.... manipulating jean gray to become evil...
The performances by actors are great and there is just one tiny action set piece outside Jean Gray's house. it lasted a few seconds but it was so promising. but the movie failed so much after that.
Mystique is killed off there and Quicksilver is "conveniently" injured. you know...... coz he can literally solve all problems the movie might ever have. also his special effects probably cost a lot, as much as the whole production.
It was interesting to see Hank and Magneto to team up to kill Jean Gray but that lasted again like 10 seconds where everyone reunites to protect Jean Gray from Jessica Chastain who is playing the role of .......... YEAH I DONT KNOW .... a bad woman/alien....
So many moments could be created based on these characters to move the audience. based on their powers.
When hank comes to tell magneto that mystique is dead there was a crashed helicopter behind him. I thought he would probably destroy it or something with his powers in rage. Justifiable power usage in moments But no, he sheds a tear....
But you get the cheeky moments like Scott asking Storm to put ice in her drinks... Really.... There is no ice at that party. If storm is not around they will have drinks without ice??? nonsense screenwriting
Everything is dark. Every scene is dark . Most of the set pieces are set in dark (except that jean gray house scene which was decent for few seconds)
Even the damn climax is in a train in dark. Couldnt really tell what was going on . All hodgepodge action. full of confusing moments.
Its just sad. I dont want it to be avengers end game. but this movie never tries.
Only thing commendable are the actors' performances. Nightcrawler after being weird in the last movie gets to shine a bit when he finally enrages and start fighting in climax. but that again lasts only few seconds.
Sophie Turner does a good job. But the writing does not do enough justice.
I mean the final fight in Jean vs Jessica Chastain, she taunts to Jean that "your emotions make you weak" , mid - fight.
ok awesome. i wonder what would be a cool comeback to that. which make you pump up in excitement as Jean finishes her off.
Lets ask some 10 year old shall we.
10 year old: "ummm just use the opposite sentence. YOURE WRONG. MY EMOTIONS MAKE ME STRONG !!"
Good job 10 year old. you should join our crew.
im not kidding. this is how Jean replies to whats-her-name before finishing her off.
It all boils down to how good the villain/antagonist in the end for every movie/story (at least in a CBM).
X men Apocalypse whatever kind of movie it was, it was at least having a powerful villain performance by Oscar Isaac who had a decent screen presence and powerful delivery of dialogues at some places ( the missile scene ).
and here we have jessica chastain who plays......... WHO THE F*** IS SHE PLAYING???? AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT? DID I MISS A MOVIE OR SOME POST CREDIT SCENE FROM BEFORE. F***!!!.
average movie . see it if you are bored. but it will definitely tarnish your xmen memories. I actually re-watched xmen apocalypse immediately afterwards to see how much better it was then this mess.
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain = MCU
(dont over think it).
this movie will take you on a journey. as you travel through every scene, you will expect to see Brie Larson emote, have some other expression except for the smug one she is fixated with. and that journey will end fruitless.
Yes its the truth, Brie larson phones it in as captain marvel. Average acting at best.
I dont care about the controversy she is casuing bla bla bla. (correction, didnt care about it WHILE watching the movie)
I saw kong skull island back then and i loved Brie, and i couldnt wait for Captain Marvel. (im a superhero lover and a mcu fanboy btw)
as i saw captain marvel trailer i had goosebumps. couldnt wait. but wow oh wow. this is a trainwreck (from marvel standards).
everyone , EVERY CHARACTER except the "leading ladies" did good acting. even Minn-erva and Keller's wife acted much better than Brie for God's sake.
The film had so many scenes and things that didnt land simply. so many things were simply off. whoever worked on the "LOOK" simply failed on Maria. again i have nothing against the actress. but she horribly failed to look like a mother and ex-pilot.
and to add insult to injury she is actually taunting Keller that CALL ME A YOUNG LADY again etc. etc. ........ ummm you look like a young lady . she looked like a bratty teen thruout.
so many questionable things have happened. dont wannt spoil . but MCU aware will know it immediately.
so they made legendary nick fury's eye loss story a joke. yahoo. any one else remembers how he told Cap (thats america obviously) how he LOST his eye when he used to bilndly trust someone, a very stern dialogue, . so i guess nick fury is a simple manipulator now. making up stuff to convince people.... okay...
i am writing this immediately after seeing. Pardon my grammar and haphazard writing.
in the end Captain Marvel simply didnt feel believable. I simply cannot believe she is supposed to go toe to toe with thanos??
Dr. Strange in his origin FELT like he could take on Thanos despite being not super powerful thruout his film. And then he did.
Captain Marvel looks like some brainless brat ready to get ass kicked. I simply refuse to believe She will be at helm in Endgame.
I hope the rumor is true, that 2 endings/stories are ready for Endgame and if CM flops. Endgame will put CM at sidelines. i really hope that happens. because CM just isnt working here!!1.
And for the love of God, anyone remotely thinking that im being sexist please **** off you dont belong on internet.
i dont have to prove anything to you but for the sake of some substance, I wholeheartedly believe that wonder woman ( i know not MCU) can kick thanos's ass. hell, scarlet witch can!! . dont know why they sidelined her. in a very bizzare scanerio even black widow might. but definitely not Carol "no white males please" Danvers.
Even technically the movie fails to impress. no beautiful shots. no superb moments.
I cant believe they had the chance to reveal the captain marvel costume first time in awesomeness like WW did on the battlefield. and they do it with the little girl (who surprisingly knows how to handle Kree bracelet because.... reasons) on their lawn...... in dark..... yay.......
Painfully Average.
EDIT 1: Adding this the next day. Yes i do want to comment on the agendas this films are pushing by the way. It throws feminism in your face. Not roughly but not subtly either.
so Captain Marvel doesnt have a love interest.... well done. wonder woman did that , and it went beautifully. you dont have to fill the movie with it. but a love interested should be there right? unless you justify the plot with it. but here the lack of love interested simply screams. IM A WOMAN I DONT NEED A MAN!!! . dr. strange didnt want to focus on a love interest. but she was there. it showed dr. strange's emotional graph and vulnerability.
And you know what, I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THESE AGENDAS, im not being safe.. Let me tell you why. Because after SJW/Political/Feminist Agendas these movies throw, giving anything less than 10/10 makes you a WOMAN HATER. There might as well be an angry mob outside the theatre ready to shoot you if you dont have a smile stepping outside.
If Brie or moviemakers would be like = hey we are making this for women empowerment. its not a great movie. its a light attempt. please support us . thanks I would give a standing ovation for them. and ask people to see this movie myself.
but hey im a male so im not supposed to say ANYTHING about this movie. just pay for it, watch it , and call it awesome. or shut up.
thats why i have a problem !!
PS: see jeremy jahns, boogie2988, screen junkies videos on the movie. they are really good.
one thing jeremy jahns says really hits how nick fury is retconned into someone else entirely. so avengers 1 was a huge threat?? no captain marvel required then? and he didnt prepare black widow hawkeye etc. that there are super powerful beings outside earth? so dont be alarmed @ thor loki etc. nick fury is a lying deceiving jerk?? did CM makers see MCU movies at all?? (quoting him mostly)
Apparently not being a Michael Bay style movie makes it a good movie?? yes im very much attacking all the 7-9 scores this movie is generously getting. Personally love the movie all you want but this movie is really really bad. objectively! . uninteresting , cringy , full of bad acting and moments.
It had great potential. But it failed.
Michael Bay movies were also bad but at least they made it up for all that with the flashy visuals and action. This movie lacks that too.
BumbleBee is a DUMB movie. waste of time and potential.
Anyone who does not like this or tries to find fault in this is pure heartless.
this is a masterpiece throughout. its every frame will leave you in awe.
each of the massive number of characters is NEVER underused.
the comedy is outstanding.
and for any comic book movie lover or action lover there are moments that will be stamped in your head forever.
The doctor strange action moments truly outshine everyone (im a dr. strange fanboy but still i believe so)
A marvel fanboys's opinion.
Awesome movie? YES
Theatre Worthy? HELL YES ( IMAX IF POSSIBLE)
reached marvel level? ummm that will take a while ofcourse.
this is how dceu should have started? yes!!!
First of all big thank you to whoever the "magic" person was in charge during this movie's pre production. maybe james wan himself? maybe some WB guy or some producer. who said. LETS JUST FOCUS ON AWESOMENESS, LETS PROUDLY CARRY CLICHE's. FOCUS ON VISUALS. NO FREAKING SJW OR POLITICAL AGENDA. thank you so much.
James Wan familiar people would see his non traditional work IMMEDIATELY. the visuals are beautiful and ground breaking. I am a filmmaking student and I had a hard time designating a particular cinematic angle or shot. It was just so unconventional yet pure eye candy. Not at all jarring.
The actions/set pieces, off the charts. and ample in quantity thank you very much. A thrilling ride. I definitely want to try watching this visual master piece again.
DCEU had become a joke even many fanboys were admitting that. Now I am not jumping on a hypewagon. I wont say : DC IS BACK. lets just wait for the next one. but oh yeahhh this is one awesome movie.
long story short,
visual/sound/costume/makeup/art direction/music = 10/10 unless u want to nitpick.
oh yes the music!! mind blowing work by rupert gregson williams, one of the best of hollywood. the music comes maybe slightly above the normal amount. but it is not crammed to us. maintains the pacing well. and charges you up so much at the perfect opportune times.
the effects and cgi? oh my god. off the charts. mind blowing by justice league standards AT LEAST. it wasnt a cgi-fest. it felt so.... real. i dont know what happened. meticulous hard work by director and team. or just budget poured well and smartly. I DONT KNOW I DONT CARE. the cgi is mind blowing. hardly i noticed a frame which was like "hee hee thats so fake". and this is when both aquaman and amber heard dont really have covered faces in action (e.g. iron man batman spiderman)
the camera work was mindblowing and blended with cgi so good. the action transffered from places to places and between characters so seamlessly. im not praising it for no reason (marvel fanboy rememeber) just go and see how seamless camera work is.
coming to narrative. filled with lot of cliches. but handled well. you are just sold into it. brilliant james wan direction gives good pacing.
some action pieces are mind blowingly directed. (if u have seen ull know what im talking about)
but yes back to the narrative, the story. it has some powerful moments, not just some mindless stuff, some impactful dialogue and even meaninfulg character arcs. it just becomes weird by the end. u really cant figure out who is the villain. and in the end even though you are like THOROUGHLY SATISFIED with your experience. you are left slighly confused and wanting slightly more. you are like: huh??? thats it? there has gotta be more cmon. its getting so awesome.
imagine drinking something(awesome!) but then punching the bottle for last few drops, feeling robbed even if a tad bit. just drops mind you, nothing too big.
characters/acting were brilliant. everyone had emotion , and the visuals just accentuated everything . most of movie is underwater and they nailed it. even guys like william dafoe and the actor who played king orm, had tightly combed hair swept back underwater as opposed to the hot bombshell amber heard and aquaman. but even their hair was waving around being underwater. notice carefully. brilliant meticulous work on this movie.
i am writing this immediately after seeing movie, pardon the grammar and hasty writing. hopefully i cover lot of it. long story short just go see the movie. its not perfect but it DELIVERS!!
@ DCEU, was this a fluke by you? THEN BY ALL MEANS CLING ONTO IT.
please enjoy.
wow. thist was unexpected. this movie is greaT!!!. if you love oceans and have nothing against women. then youre gonna have a blast.
it manages not to be a re-hash of the original. it REMINDS you of the original. and adds its feminist touch.
the performances are mostly great. and rihanna of alll people.... believable performances!!!
the presentation cinematography. all top notch.
there is an ocean tag on the movie. so yes. there will be some automatic comparisons with the movie. and it just barely does not live up to the original. but its right there.
what it lacks is a bit chemistry. and some of the lovely ladies are underused. mindy kaling especially. she is underused!! . could have been better. but wont dissapoint for sure. im going to see o11,12,13 all over again now.
there was also a tiny issue where it just seemed weird that danny ocean(george clooney) is dead and now her sister is mourning her. the thing is she is added later in writing and its difficult to believe it and u simply miss george clooney
there are some genuine twists of the "oceans" standard. it will be like . HAHA GOTCHA. its cute. and you can just have fun in that.
will repeat, all performances are superb and movie is watchable alone for that. the writing is smart. music is perfect.
hate to bring up that movie. but this is not a Ghostbusters 2016 nonsense which ive read somewhere. this is a great movie. and ghostbusters 2016 was a disaster.
please go watch in theatres!! we need to support such films with ensemble cast and fun themes. ocean's 9!!!
After the mind blowing Infinity War and its grand scale. I expected nothing out of this one. But then i was surprised how MCU is now practically a hand of Midas touching every movie script and turning it into gold.
Ant Man & The Wasp DOESN'T DISAPPOINT. The movie is so light and funny. The infinity war consequences and stakes are not present here because it hasn't happened yet in the movie. right till the haunting mid credits scene
Any good praise this movie is getting is deserving. Moreover let me add that this movie focuses on lot of characters rather than just Ant Man. Wasp , Ghost , Hope's mother and somewhat Hank and Bill too. Not to mention the brilliant Michael Pena and team and a group of baddies. Its a coherent story. The comedic timing of Paul Rudd is worthy of diamonds. And they use that to their advantage.
Its just so good to see they work so hard on their characters even if they have little to do. Scott's daughter is so cute and continues to play her role accordingly and thus you are happy when she is on screen.
:cough: Jurrassic World Fallen Kingdom girl who is mission impossible spy at first then screaming like anything when seeing a dinosaur :cough: other studios please pay attention to Marvel but dont copy them.
Ghost and quantum realm VFX were mind blowing. You think you have seen everything. But MCU will shut you right up there.
I am MCU fanboy and I dont have to spell it out loud that GO WATCH IT !!! . You will have fun and enjoy it till the very end.
OK the excellent reviews from all over the internet including trakt here are more than enough and I don’t want to rehash something in an overall sense. I have already given a TLDR review on trakt.
I went to see it for the third time and I want to give a different kind of Character by Character review.
this movie is 11/10 for me. fan boy alert. I will speak nothing but praise for this movie and it might irritate some realistic people. So, avoid reading :) in that case.
even after seeing it for the third time. it was as magical as first. (which happens very very less even with the most awesome-est movies)
there will be spoilers ahead. I have hidden most of them. But there could be some I may think not spoiler-y enough. Also, you really should manage to see this movie by now, sorry….
Characters:
Tony Stark/Iron Man: Evergreen as ever. Nails his acting throughout. And iron man action. unbelievable. the new "bleeding edge" armor actually made me worry at first because now the transformation is too quick and smooth instead of the robotic assembly in all previous films. but that is so much delivering in battles. especially in the end before thanos stabs him. how he plants his feet on ground. including one time on thanos's hand. and "creates" shields and when his armor is damaged he is actually pulling nanomachines from the leg to compensate while shooting plasmas or whatever" mind blowing throughout
Thor: thor ragnarok fans won’t be disappointed!! Half of his time is spent on his quest for his new weapon against thanos and that allows him to team up with rocket and groot for some excellent humour. and when he lands in Wakanda with stormbreaker. I know I screamed along with the whole theatre.
Bruce Banner: I love ruffalo’s acting. And he also delivers (yes, I’m gonna be praising almost everyone here). His inability to hulk is amazing. And its actually so cute. It was a slightly lighter version of him than previous ones. He worried more. He had fun more in the hulkbuster.
Hulk: yes, I’m writing this separate because he is a different personality from bruce banner. he came in the beginning and got his ass kicked after a couple of minutes. . Although those couple of minutes were decent action. But hulk fans will surely be disappointed. He is not as much as one would want. The best theory is “smart hulk” coming in avengers 4. His 1 second appearance at the end while resisting transformation were cute and hilarious. NOOOOO
Captain America: the new “nomad” look is great. And he is still a confident personality all set to fight thanos as soon as he realises his threat. Not too many standout action moments I’ll say. He isn’t having that many moments at all rather but its fine. But on Wakanda when they begin battle. Him and black panther running towards enemies the fastest was really goosebumpy. It’s the small details like this which makes the movie great. I really missed his usual circle shield as it allowed some cool action especially when used as a projectile. His new “shields” are practically fancy gauntlet kind of things. And definitely can’t be thrown.
Black Widow: again, not much to do here. Blonde btw so that’s a major change in looks. She and banner could have had some moments. But nothing is really done. Decent action alongside Okoye and Scarlet Witch against Proxima. The feminism thing landed well here.
Doctor Strange: my personal favourite. Fans WON’T be disappointed. And will probably have tears. His signature comic book moves are used. Along with him bringing the mirror dimensions once. And his cape usage!! Oh God. Each and every second of his presence is golden. His interactions with Stark are satisfying. He and Thanos also get an verbal interaction. His actions scenes are probably the coolest and shiniest. Not to mention his conjuring helps a lot like quill jumping on his shields and portals for Spiderman and mantis.
War Machine: decent presence. The big bang scenes for him. He really blows stuff up on Wakanda and its badass. has decent interactions with captain black widow and bruce.
Spiderman: I don’t have any other words yet again. Fans won’t be disappointed. Cute and chit chattyness is back. And still remains formidable. His interactions with stark are really cool with the great mentor ward relationship shown. He is the youngest and it shows. got you… and you … sorry I can’t remember everyone’s names. And his death should hit you the hardest.
Black Panther: I love black panther so much (yes like everyone… I know). his walk is amazing. I don’t know whether it’s the camera work. But his walk is so much vertical. His first shot came from the behind while that cool African music. His leadership and bravery are there for everyone to see on Wakanda. And how he runs head first with captain in the battle. Amazing!!
Vision: being a stone bearer he had to be come a plot point and thus is very underpowered here. But it works fine. his sacrifices are emotional and moving. His chemistry with Wanda is believable. Really vulnerable here compared to previous powerful appearances.
Scarlet Witch: again, good chemistry with vision. How she protects vision after corvus stabs him had some cool moments before captain and team show up to save him. It was full of fear and ultimately tragic for her. But she had great action moments on Wakanda alongside Okoye and black widow being extremely powerful of course.
Falcon: not much dialogue. But great action presence. Russo brothers are truly the master of actions. I am running out of complimentary words for the scenes. The flying kicking shooting combo was great both when saving vision and on Wakanda.
Winter Soldier: decent acting and small action. again, he is just a good soldier who can shoot. But he has a really cute moment with rocket. he is referred to as “white wolf” now btw.
Loki: the first and quickest death of the movie :’( totally redeems himself after everything. Great acting, he actually finally refers to himself as odinson at the end.
Heimdall: again, not much role here. dies really quick along with Loki at the start. One dialogue and that’s it. Idris alba is great as always
Eitri: new entry played by Dinklage. I think he was fine. and had a good failed dwarf presence. 0 action in case anyone not seen is wondering. But provides decent acting and helps thor build stormbreaker.
Wong: present in act1 alongside Doctor Strange, banner and stark. He is a good actor and compliments Doctor strange all the time. Has decent action throughout act1 and pulls a cool portal hand cut move with cull obsidian.
Mantis: really awesome. More cuter than guardian2 whenever speaking. And helps fight thanos at the end too.
Nebula: did not have much to do here. But there were cool moments here and there. when she lands on titan to fight thanos she boomerangs her knife. That was really a cool shot
Drax: shines!! Truest to the character. Impulsive jumping on everything everywhere. And “speaking literally” everywhere. Why is gamora is probably one of the best jokes of infinity war if not THE best.
Gamora: acted really well emotionally. She was a plot point here, being thanos’s daughter. Her pain and frustration were visible. Her interactions with thanos throughout were golden.
Groot: groot fans rejoice. and then cry. They have really done awesome work with groot. His “I am groot” is different every time. And u can always tell or take a good guess what he is saying. This time a teenager. And he kicks decent ass on Wakanda. And his moment when he provides the handle for stormbreaker made the theatre go wild. james gunn recently revealed that his last “I am groot” before dying was “dad”. Need…. Towel…. :’(
Rocket: hilarious rocket is at it again. This time sticking with thor and landing on Wakanda later with him. His interactions with him are good. And his obsession for artificial body parts continues and is hilarious as ever.
Potts: she is.. there. @ tony’s introduction. And then getting angry at him when he is on the spaceship. Nothing much here. No comments.
Collector: also there. Just for moments. Nothing to comment.
Thanos: yes, the main lead of the movie. If you are not careful you will start sympathising with him and take his side actually. Brolin’s acting kicks major ass. And his cg work is amazing too. He is kicking every avenger’s ass throughout. And its not just mindlessly. He is motivated. Adamant to wipe out 50% of everything. And his love for gamora, the interactions with her. Both adult and young. and ultimately having to kill her while having tears in his eyes. it brought tears to MY eyes and I was cheering for him… ahem… must check self for genocidal tendencies…
Star Lord: amazing comedy. Really. it’s evident Gunn was involved. How he scolds groot. Interacts with rocket, Drax. And love for gamora. Amazing. And I don’t care what half the internet is saying. it’s a story. And his impulsiveness caused thanos to win after almost losing. He is like that!!. He shot Ego literally 2 seconds after he told him about his mother. Where as it took tony stark time to sink in, in civil war after hearing similar news. People are different. And quill is like that. So, he started punching thanos mindlessly. He lost the girl his love. Enjoy the memes but he was amazing in my opinion.
Okoye: has some decent cute lines to say and kicks major ass when fighting on Wakanda!! Great acting
Shuri: good expositional dialogue and is there to help vision. Not really much but good.
Ross: he is there to still whine about captain America. Nothing much
M’Baku: again, after BP he is there to kick ass on Wakanda. And his presence is fierce!!!. Good acting
Ned: yes, he is there for 5 seconds but it was hilarious. Spiderman asks him to distract and gets what he wants because of his natural behaviour. Hilarious
Nick Fury: there at the end to call captain’s marvel. Before dying like others. Few seconds of role. It was almost like he knew what’s going on or something. He almost said mother**** .
Maria Hill: along with fury. Before dying
Proxima Midnight: I will admit I don’t know the children of thanos from the comics. So, I might not know if something wasn’t done right. But in the movie, all were great. Proxima had good facial animation shown in interactions with cap+black widow. And good voice acting.
Cull Obsidian: the physical hulk counterpart I guess… although hulk never came as we know. he was bulky and well designed. Kicks good ass. No voice acting here.
Corvus Glaive: great action against vision. Not much voice acting here.
Ebony Maw: probably the best of “children of thanos”. the most unexpected. He is formidable against Doctor Strange and has good interactions with him. And then good small banter with iron man. His action moments were great. As he is also a wizard of some kind. Stands tall and thin and simply waves hand to avoid “projectiles” thrown at him etc. very “elegant” and “sophisticated” action.
I hope I covered everyone. I want to add few things about the ending:
they killed half of everything. Which was really unexpected. But one beautiful thing was how they did it. Subverting expectations at almost every finger snap death. I may mess up/forget the order in the following, but you’ll get what I mean.
It starts with Bucky. Then few Wakanda army soldiers. Fine
Then black panther comes to help out Okoye. All expecting Okoye to vanish, but it turns out to be black panther. Okoye’s face horror reflects the audience.
Then its scarlet witch. one would think ok vision is gone. Scarlet witch will remain to “avenge” etc. but nope. Too much tragedy for her and to top it off. Gone
Then its groot and rocket. Audience: they killed groot already. its time for rocket yeahh. Obviously not our groot.
Nope its groot!!
Then its falcon while war machine looks for him. He goes unnoticed completely. Every death was horrific.
Back on titan. It starts with mantis I think. After that Drax.
At that point we are like. not quill obviously. c’mon that’s like 3 guardians already. But nope. quill too. bye bye. Cry more
Nebula remains.
Doctor strange’s close up. And he says to stark. this was the only way…..
He is telling a dialogue like he knows something. so c’mon obviously not him. Nope he is gone too!!!
Oh, u stopped crying. How dare u? MORE!!!
Then its Spiderman. C’mon 4 deaths already there. Its enough right.
Nope time for the death of Spiderman. The young one. done a bit more dramatically to hammer it all in.
He dies in tony’s arm. To everyone’s horror including tony’s. while saying “sorry”….
The movie’s writing is awesome and perfect.
Spoilers follow obviously:
After season 5 awesomeness it was hard to top that, but they managed it pretty well. The villain was a miss for most of the season with Cayden James, and by the end it turned out to be someone else.
pretty much why he is still alive at the season end. Also I did not like how they sent Oliver to jail. Since we know next season is coming. Its hard to care about it. I say no harm with hero winning always. Why not keep it that way. Similar thing happened in Flash S3. Oh well.
Otherwise the show has been great. Great spot on acting. A great send off to Paul Blackthorne. Cant wait for next.
6th movie and doesnt seem to stop any adrenaline rush. What an airtight plot (almost!!).
if you love mi series and spy movies. doesnt get any better than that. even when predictable you WILL BE SURPRISED. there are some truly awesome moments.
if you can afford (convinience/money) IMAX . go for it and you will be drooling at the climax scene.
fantastic performacnes. the score reminded so much of dark knight rises and i was pumped up.
this movie shines all the way.
henry cavill was superb and a great counterpart for tom cruise.
the movie could have been a 10/10 if the plot was a bit more elaborate and high stakes . especially in the later half. but it was worthy of a summer blockbuster.
action scenes are ample, maybe wont stand out as much as previous movies. and not many tiny short moments that are like WTF MIND BLOWN. but still its heavy and satisfactory.
please dont miss this one.
F*** THE HARFOOTS s s s
wont comment much . i dont remember incredibles 1. yes both of them are in good category. but nothing outstanding. awesome for kids teens etc.
there was a tiny lack of coherence. and it was hard to tell what the plot was about. first it was like ok . fully focused on elastigirl. next was ok its a story about mr. incredible trying to digest the fact that his wife is being chosen for mission. in the end it turned out to be a generic affair. but no complaints here.
good movie.
the humor is great. nothing drags. and there are some genuine laughter moments especially with the baby jack jack ones.
but nothing that will last.
saw it on imax. the animation is great. this is pixar. but at the same time. this is pixar. and they can do better... again in no way its bad. its 10/10 . but pixar can do 12/10.
enjoyble affair.
