Judging this as a kids movie, I thought this was pretty great. The animation is beautiful, the voice work was solid, and even cracked a few laughs.
Basically a Madagascar spin-off. I don't know what I was expecting but this was clearly aimed at kids, doesn't do much for me. The animation looks good, familiar themes with a fresh coat of paint, characters are the usuals, decent voice cast, a few funny moments. I get this weird feeling once i've finished it like something was missing. Very average.
Great family movie with wonderful colours and images. Themes like the fear of the unknown, family, taking chances and getting out of your comfort zone and beating the stereotypes are all over this movie! Would recommend it.
Has some fun moments but overall unremarkable; basically everything it does was done better by some other films. Similar in narrative to The Brave Little Toaster, but while those characters had a strong and relatable incentive for going on an adventure, this bunch do it for no particular reason... a whim. The low-stakes premise and scarce character development numb the film, producing very little to care about and depriving of tension, leaving slapstick comedy and eye-candy visuals as the main hooks.
Migration was a decent and okay movie. I had medium expectations as Illumination released some real bangers.
However Migration met my expectations I think. The animation was gorgeous and breathtaking, really incredible.
But the rest I think was just okay.. You have a kinda fun and interesting idea for this movie. But I think this one wasn't anything special. I don't really know how to put it in words.
If you ask me Migration is just a basic kids movie that is kind of forgettible but still good with, as said, great visuals.
From a childs perspective I think this movie could be amazing.
My personal rating:
-Plot (Story Arc and Plausibility): 6/10
-Attraction (Premise & Entertainment Value): 7/10
-Theme (Identity & Depth): 6/10
-Acting (Characters & Performance): 6/10 [German dub]

-Editing (Pace & Effects): 8/10
-Soundtrack (Sound Design & Film Score): 6/10
-Directing (Vision & Execution): 6/10
-The “It” Factor (One-of-a-Kind & Transcendent): 5/10Overall: 6/10 || 63.5/100
I was underwhelmed, especially as the movie has a 72% on RT. Reminds me of The Good Dinosaur - a bit bland, a few scary scenes that really hurt the film’s overall atmosphere, forgettable characters, and basically unmemorable.
Migration is a good family movie. There are a couple of scenes that are truly great, but as a whole, the film does nothing to stand out from the pile of mediocre animated films.
After seeing the trailers & have a good laugh, this seemed like a solid stab to watch for free on a flight. Characters were honestly underbaked & nothing revolutionary for the plot/lessons learned. & honestly, seemed like most of the jokes were in the advertisements to begin with. Expect higher of children & their intellect! Challenge them to criticially think a little...
Nice kid family movie, production should continue the history
I really liked this movie! Illumination kicked this one out of the park - it is the cutest family movie that I've seen in a while. would recommend it to those looking for cute family entertainment for all audiences.
The animation style totally rocked! What really got me was how the characters and the background meshed together. Despite their different styles, everything just clicked, which was super cool to see. The color work is absolutely amazing. Watching it was a treat for the eyes.
But honestly, I was hoping for more from the story, especially since it started off strong. I wanted something that really got into the tough stuff animals face when they move around the world, but in a fun way that kids could get into. Instead, it kind of felt like a rerun of stuff like "Ice Age: Migrations" and "Madagascar," just not as good. It’s definitely worth a watch, but don’t expect to be blown away.
When I just chill and think of it strictly as a kids’ movie, without stressing over the similar stuff I've seen before, it actually turns out pretty great. I’d totally recommend it for a fun movie day with the kiddos.
Sure, the jokes felt kind of same-old, but the way the characters moved cracked me up more than a few times.
It's got its flaws, but all in all, it’s a pretty fun watch, especially with the little ones.

Excellent. Really, a very comfy movie. Animation is quite good.
A good light-hearted kid's movie.
It's a super solid 7/10... All characters are likeable and have their funny moments.
Defo worth a watch. :)
Migration is exactly what I thought it was going to be beautiful animation with, a great voice cast (especially from Danny DeVito and whoever plays Qwen also Awkwafina is way overused nowadays) with some humorous moments, entertaining throughout and a pretty basic generic story. One of Illumination's least memorable films but not the weakest.
Better than Chicken Run 2. The film's plot was predictable but elevated by being excellent in every other aspect.
This one is so predictable and typical, there is not much to say really. Nothing special about it, just maybe an OK movie to watch once with kids.
Genuinely amazed by the animation. Illumination almost never fails, flop or not. The voice acting is great, and the story is heartwarming and exciting. The smoothness and clarity had me dizzy it was that good. A perfect kids movie that elders can still enjoy. The reason I'm not giving it a higher rating is because it is just a kids' movie, added to the pile we already have. In other words, it was generic, the good type.
Swift, warm, and busting with kinetic, colourful animation, Migration is an imaginative, fun 70 minutes that deftly fights off the factory-animation-churn allegations levied at the likes of Illumination, Pixar and DreamWorks. There's a message about stepping out of your comfort zone, not passing your anxieties and fears onto the next generation, and an entire character that is just Danny DeVito as a haggard old mallard. What's not to like?
2 mild chuckles, some old Pixar jokes and a boring story that has 8yr olds questioning the nonsensical parts.
The animation is nice but it had me wondering how good could a Daffy Duck movie look right now?
Didn't expect anything worthwhile from Meledandri, and he delivered the usual.
It's nice to watch something so lighthearted once in a while. Very cute and funny movie, I liked it!

Kid's movie or not, modern writers should really turn off autopilot on their scripts and spread their wings more.
