Lucy 2014

I can't get enough of this movie! The questions raised and all the knowledge being the most important thing is amazing. She saying that "we never really die" and explaining about how the humanity created numbers and letters to kind of "adapt" everything to our size was pretty great. Scarlet's performance, the soundtrack and the visual effects are just a show aside for me. I'm sad that most of people actually didn't like the movie.

@yuriscx I'm also sad to read through these reviews and see that so many people thought so little of Lucy. I kept seeing the term used, "popcorn movie", and finally looked up the definition to be sure I fully understood what it meant.

popcorn movie: A motion picture without serious dramatic content, a weighty message, or intellectual depth, which serves simply as enjoyable entertainment.

I quite like simple, enjoyable entertainment, and don't view that wordage as some insult when used to describe films, but I don't think it completely and accurately describes Lucy. While I do agree the story was kept simple and without too much complexity, I feel as a whole it was meant to make one consider so many “what ifs” in terms of how humanity has progressed and what more we could be and could accomplish if we somehow had access to or the ability to grasp a truer understanding of our world past what we do. How is that not weighty or intellectually deep? I think some are turned off by the scientific inaccuracies, but ya know, the genre is called science fiction.
