The Tall Man 2012

People just don't get the idea of this film. It's not about stealing children from poor people and giving them to rich people who can raise the properly. It's about a person who did everything she could possibly do for making the world a little better, and seeing that it just doesn't work anymore.

The world, the politics, the economy is corrupted, and alone she couldn't change it. Is she guilty for taking the children from their parents? Yes, but no more than the abusive parents, who raised them in sh*tty cities, without any opportunities for healthy, intellectual growth.

Her mind slipped, and she gave in to "crime", but in her mind, she was giving them a better life (and indeed she did). The fact is, in the end of the movie I was confused. Do I blame her or not? And when the girl looked at the camera and asked me "Right?", I just couldn't answer it.

So, it's a very clever movie. But if you went looking for a slasher movie, you will hate it. But if you like movies at all, you will, at least, enjoy the central idea and the plot twists. Kudos to Pascal Laugier.
