@nmahoney416 , i agree with pretty much all your points. I especially disliked the first half of the movie with the actors having to stare in wide eyed wonder at Green screens. It really took me out of the movie. The second half of the movie where it got a little darker was more interesting to watch.
My 14 yr old said the book had a lot more darker moments that was left out of the movie, I'm assuming to make it more kid friendly.
As far as book to movie adaptations go, it was still far better than The Dark Tower. That one still hurts

This movie just doesn't quite work. I think kids would probably enjoy this more than adults. It's well made but I just didn't get invested into the story. The story is weird and doesn't make a ton of sense but that is fine, I was expecting that. The opening is very slow and I just wanted to get past it so I can see all the supernatural things start. This is visually stunning and by far the best part of the movie. The acting was meh. It's great to see such a diverse cast in a blockbuster. The child actors were fine but Charles Wallace's character was very annoying. I kinda hated the cinematography. They were way too many extreme close ups of all the characters. I felt like it got to the point were it was almost every other shot. The shaking cam stuff was used too much too.
