Brazil has been on my list of shame for a while. i dont know why i never got to it, especially in my early 20s. now, much like Trainspotting, it saddens me how much of my life has been lived without this movie in it. dystopian future run by bureaucracy, oppressive machinery, wwii Britain vibe, CYA at all costs, that over-the-topness that gilliam pulls off with such finesse. this is a movie only gilliam could pull off well. in the hands of most others, it would be an absurd travesty. while i loved every viewing of Naked Lunch ive had over the years, i wish this had been substituted for a few of them.
