If you have liked BattleStar Galactica (BSG 2004), you will probably enjoy this show as well, even though the plot is often lacking and the acting is not always the best. My main critic would be that weirdly enough only north American made it to the stars (with your odd South African/Commonwealth Citizen/Generic eastern European), so the plot is very binary. No sub plot around Earth government or how different factions among the UNN/MCR could push different agenda.
Not a bad show overall.
