This Is Us: Season 3

3x05 Toby

  • I actually liked the theory of Beth running for councilman, but guess that was a shot in the dark. Not really feeling Randall's story tbh because he doesn't even live in Philly, he doesn't know the people and he just waltzes in there trying to fix problems and invalidating the current councilman. That's just not how it works. I hope he'll focus more on his wife and don't be obsessed with politics.
  • At first I thought Zoe was cute, but now I get some weird vibes from her. Of course there's the whole problem where it looks like she's more interested in Kevin's fame and a possible documentary about his father, but now there's also this whole race issue. I do think Kevin is a bit more oblivious to "casual" racism, but he does know about racism and has experienced it with Randall a few times. I also think it's weird to not even want to explain about the silk pillowcase. I didn't think about the hair either, but Kevin realized it's important for some reason, so he tried his best. He could've asked for the specific reason, but maybe he was just too stressed out about this whole trip. I can't really blame him. Zoe makes me feel weird and I think Beth had a point when she warned Kevin.
  • Glad to see some nice Miguel moments. I know many people hate him, but I never did. He never did anything wrong and he dated Rebecca years after Jack's death. It makes me happy to see how he tried to help them after Jack's death. He really seems like a good guy.
  • Watching Toby's father talking so harshly about depression really hurt me. Never been a big Toby fan, but they changed/explained his character in a way that actually makes me feel for him.
  • Oh, Kate. Just take the goddamn compliment about your voice instead of talking about your tough life again. Ugh.
