Okay, this is my first movie review in English, and my overall first here on trakt. I'll try my best to stay objective and not to speel too much wrong. Oh and I try not to make too many spoilers.

At first, the idea of making a movie with fantasy elements (like here orcs, elves, dragons, …) in a 'normal' world is not a bad thing, and I love to see such 'crossovers'. But this movie failed on combining these two elements.

We have the retired soldier that wants to be alone, so he buys a house in nowhere. But there is that elf princess who is hunted by a bad bunch of orcs. The soldier doesn't want to help her at first, but after seeing these orcs he agrees to help her. — All in all a good thing — BUT he just kills the orcs like they are nothing. Nearly 90% of the movie consists of shooting orcs. That would be okay (if we leave the 'infinite ammo'-fact out of mind, wich was clearly see-able at the last third of the movie, e.g. really really much ammo for the rocket launcher) if the orcs would be a bit harder to kill — some orcs just stand there in a line and wait for being shot at.

Positive is that the orcs looked really cool and that the mimic and gesticulation from the actors was great rendered to the mask and the whole character.

Sadly the visual effects were a lot worse. The blood effects were just black dust-things. And the flames of the dragon were…not really flames, more a bunch of yellow, orange and red. And the visual effects and the reaction of the actors (like falling ot being throwed away because of an explosion) were out-of-sync.

The sound was okay (sadly I can not tell more, because I only watched it in 2.0 — the 5.1 headset is in the boarding scholl where I am only during the weeks).

The weapons…the main character has a whole military arsenal (or maybe not sooo much) in his house. Sadly the effect of the weapon is not always the same, one time 5 orcs get thrown away by the rocket launcher, on the next shoot only one (where 5 or more were in the explosion radius). And the dragon flame is … a bit … overpowered…Okay it is much overpowered, for short, everything that gets in contact with it will instantly explode (if a house roof is hit, the whole house will explode…instantly).

All in all, maybe a good popcorn-movie, and a good movie for people who want to see how many orcs can die in a single movie, but I think it is not suitable for fantasy fans, or people who want to watch good movies.

I gave that movie 40%, because the costumes were great, but the rest was a total flop.
