Although it wasn’t amazing, this ending wasn’t bad. I don’t get why anyone is saying it’s the worst ending ever or that it betrayed Game of Thrones. That’s nonsense. It’s true that this season and season 7 were far worse in terms of writing than the previous 6 seasons, and the arc with Daenerys going bad was most definitely rushed. But all of the characters had their stories wrapped up, there’s nothing that I can really think of that wasn’t resolved. Jon killing Daenery’s was something I thought was obviously going to happen ever since Jon’s true parentage was revealed. Nothing surprising about that in my opinion, and Daenerys going and was foreshadowed over and over again in earlier seasons. The only real issue with how it all played out was in that Daenerys’ arc was super rushed and felt as though it just suddenly came out of nowhere. Yes, they had foreshadowed, but it was as if they just flipped a switch and made her go from a 3 to a 10 on the madness scale, whereas in previous seasons she had only ever gotten to a 3.

As a final season, it was disappointing, yes. But I didn’t find it at all surprising, and that’s perhaps the worst thing about it. Previous seasons were always surprising. The only thing surprising about this season to me was that Bran ended up king. I didn’t expect that.
