Oh, man. This season...was not that good. It wasn't entertaining enough and certainly nowhere near as entertaining as you'd probably expect from a show with such a premise or something similar. I do think it had more potential than the first season to be the best of what it was, based on what it turned out to be. It just didn't happen, which is unfortunate. And I don't have hope that the writers will improve in that regard with the third season and onward.
There were plot conveniences that were very noticeable and off-putting. And in light of that, I have no doubt there were probably some in the first season, as well. I just didn't notice them back when I watched it because I wasn't as attentive as I was when watching this season.
Ultimately, this season was so underwhelming. There was hardly any action or excitement, and when there was, the amount of tedious, boring stuff that "happened" to get to those points was enough to make those moments underwhelming, as they would've had to be way more fulfilling to make up for everything leading up to them.
"B-but, it's realistic! There have been enough movies and TV shows where there's action happening every single second!!" No, when I watch a show (or movie) with a premise similar to that of this show, I'm going to expect it to deliver, not mostly consist of what comes across as "filler."
And, yeah. I get that having high-octane action happen very frequently can start to become tedious and boring, too, in itself, at least for some people. And I may end up feeling that way in some cases like that, who knows. But I know that, even in those cases, I'd still find what I watched to have been extremely enjoyable.
This season, on the other hand, has too much in-between the "high-octane" action that isn't written in a way that is still compelling and enjoyable, and too little of the "high-octane" action. And that results in something mediocre. I don't think the writers care about finding that balance and sticking to it. And even if they did, in the third season, perhaps, there's still the writing that needs improvement.
In short, I don't have high hopes for the third season and I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll watch it.
