Big budget disaster movie. The first earthquake in Seoul probably took half the movie budget. That's a pretty good scene if you forgive the wtf is he driving in the middle of people and falling buildings part ? But after that there's nothing much. A big tsunami, but that is seen for just a few seconds, just a big wave arriving and almost nothing shown of when it hits or the aftermath (nor any indication of how the wife could survive that), some volcano views but meh.

So when you remove the disaster part, what's left is mostly a military comedy. There's a little action, but it's hard to take it seriously and the accent is really put on the comedy side. Well, can't say that it's a comedy, or particularly funny, just more like the entire cast is the comic relief. It kinda works.

Main attraction, predictable but enjoyable anyway, is the spy/double agent/traitor/bad guy but not too much/pseudo antagonist. It gives a little life to the story, that would not go far without him.

The scientific part is as ridiculous as expected from this kind of movie, though not the worse.

The parallel fatherhood background story of the two men tries to give a little depth to the characters. Let's not get into how he just randomly goes in a destroyed city, and just stepping out of the car, here's his child.

The beginning lets you hope for a great disaster movie, that's not it. It's more like a buddy movie set in a disaster background. First scene still worth it for the destruction lovers.
