The visual effects, acting, screenplay, music, photography, costumes, and directing are all at their best. While there are many dystopian films with fabulous scenery and costumes, but terrible screenplays or poor acting, this is a clear example of all the elements working together at their best. The story concept is tightly focused—you shouldn't expect a full examination of a future society; this is not Foundation or 2001—but the visual and auditory treatment of this extended short story compare favorably to any scifi epic blockbuster. If you like dystopian fiction, you should see this film. If you like love stories, you must see it as well.
