The Girl Next Door 2004

Basing it on the 2015 context, I’d say The Girl Next Door was a bad movie. There was a lot of inaccuracy, sexism, and objectification. The storyline was weird, the script was weird...the movie’s REALLY weird. For one, why did Matthew receive a standing ovation after including in his speech that he prioritizes his girlfriend over his future? If Georgetown was as good a university as they made it seem, they’d be critical. And for Danielle to have sex with Matthew at the back of a car for their FIRST TIME? Wouldn’t that have reminded her of pornography scenes? Gah, it’s so wrong on so many levels.

HOWEVER, this was a movie from yeeeaaars ago, and I’m sure people didn’t see much wrong with it then. The movie IS charming, as the actors compensate for most of what it lacks. I don’t regret seeing it; and if the movie’s description interests you, you should watch it!
