Star Wars: The Force Awakens 2015

Absolutely disappointing rehash of the first trilogy. Disney had a real opportunity to do something new and exciting with this ipr but resorted to rushed writing with an extremely compressed story that makes no sense and fails to make anyone care for the characters or events. Emo Kylo is an outstanding metaphor for the whole deal.

I couldn't agree with you more...the story is completely crap!

Yep, it got so boring at some point that I almost left the theatre.

I totally agree with you. I actually left the theatre as soon as the end credits were about to begin. I'm not caring to watch the next one at al midnight premiere, for sure. This movie is more like a fan film.

Just sit back and enjoy. The haters obviously need to watch the prequels again to see how bad it could have been.
The movie feels like the originals look wise and costume wise. It didn't give every answer about the characters yet and I am sure it will in the next installments.
Where's the mystery if it gives everything away ?

@Jim222001 The problem is that it left very little to give away, not that other way around. It was written in that very Disney/JJ Abrams manner - their entire story was divulged in one or two lines, usually in the introduction to the character. The amount of 'my grandfather' and 'our son' introductions is an example of this, it's one of the first things they teach you not to do in screenplay school, and the backstories of each character were often told to us almost as if they were speaking their autobiography, rather than actually showing us. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, using the word 'hater' is just a way to duck any obligation of logical retort on your part, but it wasn't a good film. A fun film fans will love, yes, but not a good film by more general standards and hopefully not the Star Wars we're going to keep getting. It needs a little less Michael Bay and a little more... well.. Rian Johnson hopefully.

I've seen people compare this to the Prequels and I really don't understand how anyone can be so ignorant

The only good thing I can say about this movie is that I hope it was intentionally made a rehash of the old trilogy intended to bring back the setting/feeling from it. This to pave the way for the second and third movies to build and expand upon the story in a meaningful way. Otherwise it's an utter fail that could have been produced a lot cheaper simply by re-cutting the old material from which pretty much all scenes were copied verbatim.

@Jim222001 I don't I know what can be more superficial than, out of all things can be mentioned about the movie, you mention that "look wise and costume wise" the movie "feels like the originals". That speaks a lot about the quality of this sequel, huh?

The costume and the look feels like the original. Yeah. It's so shallow. Not saying Star Wars is deep to begin with, but at least the prequel doesn't have a rehashed plot. It's still trying to tell a story--though whether the story is good or not one mileage may vary.

My thoughts exactly. It was a caricature of itself. Terrible waste of time and money, though not as bad as episodes I-III for sure.

@makko Some folks are never satisfied. I found it thoroughly enjoyable!
