I'm not into kid animes but I liked this one, I don't really know why. I just wanted to learn Go when I read/saw it. I would recommend watching the special "Journey to the North Star Cup" after the show as it develops the story a little bit. And if you want more, you can read it as it goes a little more after the special movie.
