This is the best sports movie you will ever watch. Fantastic performance by everyone involved and the baseball scenes are thrilling even after the 5th time of watching the movie. Plus, it is a wonderful movie about women, friendship and sisterhood as well. And the soundtrack!

Great seeing the original girls league members playing baseball as older women during the closing credits-- what must've been sixty-five year old women who were obviously still athletic!
This movie was such a great homage to those players.

A League of their own is a great movie. It’s a heartwarming and fast paced sports movie. It has some good comedy and the games are pretty good. The plot is great it’s fast paced and when the movie starts it just keeps going my entertainment was never lost. The acting is good all the main girls have good performances and Tom Hanks gives a good supporting role. The cinematography is good and the score is very good. It’s became a somewhat classic and the story being told is good. Overall it’s a great sports movie with heart that’s a true 90s classic.

Geena Davis helms a plucky, extroverted squad of girls embroiled in the inaugural season of a ladies' baseball league. It's got heart and charm to spare, but often veers too close to super motivational, Lifetime Network feel-good material for my taste. The talent is there, with strong support from Tom Hanks, Jon Lovitz and Madonna, though their roles frequently edge near the cartoonish. Some are able to pull that off - Lovitz has been making bread with such exaggerated characters for years - but others, like Rosie O'Donnell's stereotypical feisty Jersey girl, aren't as adept.
Puffy, padded, and egregiously predictable, its message about the irresistible force of gender equality in the midst of WWII is nice, but often feels secondary to the manufactured lite drama in the locker room.

I use to love this movie when I was a kid, but as the years went by, I wanted to have nothing to do with it because it was so sleazy. I finally decided to play it for my wife, and yes! It’s just as sleazy as I remember. Lol! But we enjoyed it, and it’s definitely a classic, and I absolutely love Tom Hanks in this movie. This is definitely one of his classics.

A good film that doesn't quite make great to me for its unfocused nature and the misfire of Dottie as the protagonist, as great as Geena Davis is. Tom Hanks is a gem, of course, really owning the scumbag drunk energy and doing more to sell Jimmy's growth than the script does, and the cast is all charming and hard hitting. But the film is most interesting when it confronts the sexism of the fond, how they'd use women for profit one second then try and put them back in the kitchen the next. How opportunities for these white women didn't equal the same for black women. How this is a dream for character like Kit and Mae and Doris and they carved out a space in a time trying it's hardest not to let them. I was tearing up at the reprisal of their league song, of the community of it. Which is why Dottie, who's arc is ultimately just 'admits she wants this experience for a year but it's just something to look back on after going home with her husband and having kids' is such a mischoice as protagonist. There's strong potential here, and I hope the 2022 show capitalizes on it.
After 30 years, Penny Marshall's film shows its weaknesses but also undoubted virtues, such as that portrayal of sexist cruelty towards disregarded and vilified women, softened by the comedy. Like the character of Madonna, a parody of the image built around her, while Tom Hanks makes a macho and manipulative goofball likeable. The director only needs a scene without dialogue to show the racism. A subtle but deeply incisive filmmaking.
Can't believe it's taken me this long to finally watch such a classic film. Dips at times but the rest makes up for it. Solid stuff and had tears at the end.

Now I see why this is considered a classic in the USA. I know nothing about baseball and still loved this. It's funny and touching. Madonna steals her scenes. Rosie is great. Hanks playing an asshole. A rarity. Great movie.
This is very much a film worth watching, even if I do not personally love it. It’s a very good story, that doesn’t scratch my full “baseball movie” or “Tom Hanks movie” itch…and that’s totally fine. Seems like others like this movie more than I do, so I will certainly see this movie many more times in my life. It is hard to believe this movie just turned 30 years old!

But there sure is crying watching this film. This is one of my all time favorite films, I've watched it almost 20 times, and I STILL cry at the end.
