They managed to set the same eerie setting but with new additions to the story. One of the better alien-type movies. There's suspense, action and the silent scenes have to be one of my favorites because they really keep you on the edge of your seat. Watched this one just like the previous on the big screen which is a privilege and really adds to the experience.
These aliens have two weaknesses now but it doesn't make them any less dangerous. Cillain Murphy was a nice addition to the cast, had to look twice to make sure it was really him. Also really love watching these characters (kids included) because they are smart. They don't make those typical stupid mistakes like in most thriller or horror movies. These characters are well adapted and especially the girl manages to figure out how to kill these creatures on her own. If I may add one piece of criticism that is entirely based on my own jealousy it's that Evelyn (Emily Blunt) had no business still looking so good, running around, outsmarting aliens while just having had a child. period.
Intense overall run-time. Few wonderful moments. Heart pounding scares. Bad ass ending. There should definitely be a 3rd installment ending the alien invasion on earth.
being the first movie to watch in the theater after a while gives it an advantage, otherwise, it's not that great.
Twice the scares.
Twice the action.
Twice the joy.
Roll on Part III
An engrossing, expansive, and incredibly well made film. It has it’s issues but for the most part it’s a very worthy sequel.
The response to this movie makes zero sense to me. Most people liked the first one and they think this one is better, while I thought the first one was mediocre and this one is even worse.
They really got away with making the exact same movie again. No glance into an urban city, or more info about the aliens, no explanation why Lee and Evelyn decide to have a replacement baby in a world where you have to be quiet. There was nothing further explored plot or character wise. Just more slow walking through New York, characters acting impulsively and making dumb decisions that constantly put them in danger but that doesn't matter because they got huge amounts of plot armor. They added 'evil' people for no reason. No explanation, at all! Why was the message on the radio some cryptic code? The aliens can't speak English.
Scary monster screams very loud, has beyond hypersensitive hearing, and kills people out of shot, and it just takes a 13 year old girl to find out that maybe a high pitched sound could possibly defeat the aliens. The parallel editing was obnoxious. Like, we get it! They don't have to do that for the entire second half of the film.
Maybe in the third and fourth movies, that will get green lit, they can cut the closeups of feet or brooding eyes and pull together their fictional universe into a coherent, functioning world.
Okay, worthy sequel, but it still amazes me that they discover things now and no one else has not noticed before
Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) is a fantastic addition. He is quite bad ass in this. Great movie, I am surprised pretty much the same ending worked so well again. I was on the edge of seat.
Disappointed....the bit with the boat...oh come on
a shadow of its predecessor
forgot how substantial the difference between a theater screening and a slow computer running 123movies is
this was absolutely gorgeous in every way imaginable
Moves at a brisk pace and with a running time that's lean, it rarely outstays its welcome and I enjoyed it even if it did feel like the middle part of a trilogy. An exciting and thrilling way to start the summer.
A Quiet Place II is a cinematic hand job: not as moving as the real thing but pleasurable and satisfying, nonetheless.
Unnecessary sequel, the best part was the initial scene, the rest was just boring garbage. 1h30 hours for them to:
* Get out of their house
* Find Peaky Blinders guy.
* Girl and Peaky Blinder's guy go on to an island.
* They turn on the radio station.
And that's it?
Poor sequel brings nothing new to the story. Requires dumb decisions from characters for something to happen.
I would have given it an extra star if they put a sailors cap on that 1 alien
This was a big let down! What a boring movie! I waited this long for this crap!!!
it was ok not bad or good
Millie steals the show... again!!! She's terrific.
Better than the first one but I didn’t like the first one
The first one was realistically sound. This one failed there. But it's a good watch, that tells you how it all started and everything that ensued right after where the first part ended. I wish they hadn't dramatized certain scenes. Felt those were artificially placed to give you the terror effect, let the story handle that for god sake! You already have a good story in your hand, let it steer the wheel.
For example: The boy getting out of that safe hole and giving away their position just to dig more into Emmett's life, and how he closed the furnace door shut without realizing he didn't stuff the towel between the lock to open it back again, I sensed that's how it's gonna go down from miles away. The black dude losing his mind at the garage door felt foolish too. In earlier scenes the movie established he's smarter than that. Even the ending of part two is very identical to part one's ending ! Forced and such unnecessary scenes.
I'd recommend still. I just wish they had been more careful with those scenes.
The first part was quite good and I liked the premise: human-murdering aliens that can not see but hear very well.
The first ten minutes of this film were promising and brutal. Suburbia slaughtered, bringing some of George Romero's later zombie-apocalypse flicks to mind.
Emily Blunt must be one of the best famous actors of our day. Consider how she can evoke emotions simply by changing her facial expression. It's a sight to see.
I think the fairly anti-family intro is badly contrasted with regular family sentiments in the rest of the film. The main kids just couldn't be annihilated, could they? Kind of pores other people into an 'unworthy victims' bucket, which is drab.
I liked the jumps between the 'hearing' and 'non-hearing' scenes. About as much as I disliked how unlikely it seemed that the super-clever kid actually was that clever: it more felt like a rubber stamp had been left on their forehead than making me feel it were true.
As with the first film, I loved how this one made me feel what the first 'Alien' film did: the monster's presence was there even when the monster physically was not. This, padded with the non-hearing scenes, were frightening.
The rhythm of the film felt balanced. Action, inaction, non-action.
The asthmatic scenes added to the feeling of having the pressure mount; Perhaps this is the best way for me to describe the film: viscerally thrilling as good horror films can invoke.
I also liked how two sides of the adventure were on display towards the end. Fairly interesting.
A fine sequel but it's the same, there is no new stuff, I felt I was watching the final episode of strangers things.
"Изсмукан от пръстите!"
Boring, slow.... this part was definitely not needed. I hope there will be no part 3.
Seen 6/28/21. Back filling a few reviews.
Very solid sequel. Not as good as the original but had some really nicely directed and acted tense moments. High quality stuff here. 7.5
A Quiet Place was a critically acclaimed horror film that caught audiences by surprise with its simple premise of staying quiet to avoid the mysterious beasts. Its success led to the production of A Quiet Place Part II, which picks up a year after the events of the first film. The story follows Emily Blunt's Evelyn as she tries to keep her children alive while they're on the run, along with the help of a new character played by Cillian Murphy. The sequel can't quite replicate the surprise and tension of the original and some of the scares feel familiar, which is disappointing. However, the performances, particularly by Simmonds, who is the main lead, are strong and retain the emotional drama that worked so well in the first film. Murphy's character adds some mystery and uncertainty to the established family structure. There are still some effective and tense sequences in the film, but they're not as impactful as those in the first movie, and some are caused by unwise character decisions. The apocalyptic landscape is once again captured well and the sound design remains top-notch. Although it's clear that a third installment is in the works, it makes one wonder about how much potential is left for the series. Overall, A Quiet Place Part II is a respectable sequel, but it doesn't quite live up to the standard set by its predecessor.
This movie is not perfect (I, particularly, didn't like the explanation of how the monsters appeared that the prequel part shows; the convenient introduction of the Cillian Murphy's character; and I was not convinced in a specific scene that envolves a boat), but I can say that this movie is as good as the first movie. I mean it also has a wonderful score, uses the worst possible situations to create tension (believe me, the movie lets you apprehensive all time) and progrides very well with the story.
Unfortunately I wasn’t very impressed or entertained. We had a thrilling first movie where they figure out noise made them vulnerable and in the second movie…we spend it using noise to make them vulnerable. Nothing advances, nothing is new, it is the same run and hide as the first one but with a few more gunshots.
"A Quiet Place Part II" is the sequel to Director John Krasinski's original thriller about an invasion or infestation, by creatures from...somewhere else. "Part II" doesn't quite live up to the suspense of its predecessor, though.
The film jumps into high gear by showing events of that fateful day when the creatures first appeared. The chaos presented was exciting but unfortunately the rest of the movie, while far from uninteresting, can't recapture the initial intensity of its opening or that of the first film. The performances are solid and while Krasinski's character is missed, Cillian Murphy is an interesting addition to the cast.
I've mixed feelings about this one. From the art perspective it's great but the plot ... most of the trouble could have been prevented by some basic communication.
Loved it. The opening flashback scenes were my favorite part of the movie, wish I could see more of that. Only issue is it basically ended the same way as the last one.
Really enjoyed the sequel. It was a little bit slow at first but wow is the young girl an amazing actress! She conveys every emotion perfectly! And the action was intense haha!
Useless sequel. Almost nothing new compared to the first movie.
Useless then.
I really feel that the events in this movie weren't enough to fill an entire movie. It should have been 1 or 2 episodes in a series. Doesn't feel like the characters had a major achievement or progress to justify an entire movie which takes such a long time to produce...
Sooo I'm guessing that there's gonna be a Part III because that ending was not it at all. I enjoyed the movie, don't get me wrong but the way it ended, I thought it was gonna go into another scene :woman_shrugging_tone3:
That was definitely cinema worthy, what a nerve-wrecking experience. Cillian Murphy was a great addition, I didn't even realize it was him until later on in the movie. The alien magically showing up on a boat in the island lowkey annoyed me but everything else was top notch. The parallels were executed perfectly. I would definitely watch another instalment, need to see where these aliens came from and what's their purpose. (Side note: for a movie that is called the quiet place, tell me why were there bitches next to me that spent the entire movie talking.)
Story = 9
Cinematography = 9
Soundtrack = 9
Production Design = 9
Acting = 9
Overall score = 9/10
Pretty decent film but kind of disappointed. It felt like I just watch a one whole episode of a really good Netflix show. I hope they added more to the story. But craftmanship is all good.
Oh no contest, the first movie is far better. This was okay, but the entire time I kept wondering what the fuck was actually going on.
"The people that are left, what they've become, you don't know, do you? I knew. They're not the kind of people worth saving."
I absolutely loved the first one. It was one of my favorites of 2018. This one is similar: Might be one of my favorites this year. I do admit I was worried how they would continue the first one, but the storytelling in this is just as entertaining and interesting, and it feels like Cillian Murphy is representing the audience as we try to find out what else this world has to offer.
The First Movie Was A Real Thriller You Didn't Know What You Were Up Against - And This Time Around I Had High Expectations But With John Krasinski Out Of The Pictures I Really Didn't Know What To Expect - But Emily Blunt Fully Took The Lead Roll With The Kids Carving Their Own Way As Well - There Were Some Moments Even I Jumped Out Of My Seat & Enjoyed The Ride I Just Hope There Is Another Movie Coming - It Wasn't As Good I Expected But It Was A Fun Movie To Watch & There Were A Few Surprises And A Few Inconsistencies With The Story But If You Enjoyed The First One You Will Enjoy This One
i usually dont like sequels cuz mostly they r created just to gain more money from the first hit ..
but dang this was so good ! i personally think it was even better from the first part

n ppl who assuming that the alien just drove the boat, U okay ? he didn't drive it, he got stuck on it which we saw it, then the boat drifted to the island cuz the boat wasn't tied :D so yes it makes pretty sense tbh
The previous one was better. Decent sequel but not as good as anticipated.. 6.5/10
Awesome!
In sample words
a move that makes you feel nervous from what gonna happen
really great Job
waiting for the third
This genre is hard to get right. Getting it right twice? Very cool. There’s a few holes here and there (like why not play a message, “the aliens can’t swim, come to our island” or how does burning a massive bonfire when the crazies are at the dock not end up with the crazies attacking?) but they don’t make it any less enjoyable/intense watch. Go see it
Overall decent sequel. It’s hard to beat the first! They did great expanding the storyline, locations, characters and production! All that lacked for me was Eve and Marcus’s character development. The story mainly revolved around Regan and Emmett’s (Cillian Murphy) journey, which was great. I enjoyed their chemistry together and how far Regan has come from the first film taking on her dads role. I wish I had one more great dialogue scene to drive Regan and Emmett’s bond home but they made up for it in action. The sound editing was also fantastic. Eve and Marcus’s plot line lacked and seemed to be used as filler for parallel storylines and edits. Not much growth here. It felt a bit forced / unmotivated sometimes but overall I enjoyed the creative choice. Regan’s courage and Emmett’s redemption is what makes the film. Everything did come together at the end. The similar ending felt less impactful second time around but I loved seeing Regan run the show. Besides a few choices, it was a solid sequel!
Definitely the second best so far.
Well made and great tension. I have questions with some character motives, silly moments and muddled storytelling, but I enjoyed it.
Enjoyed it - especially in 4dx which was great for the exploding heads.
Pacing was largely good, and the expanded world worked quite well. 75/100
My friends and I (safely) saw A Quiet Place II yesterday, and it was as good as the first one! It's been a while since we've been to the theater to see a movie. The last one we saw was Sonic the Hedgehog (February 2020), so it was nice to be back in my local theater again (even though there were only about ten other people in the room hah ). We saw the first film in the theater the weekend it came out in April 2018, and it was definitely one that is best experienced in a theater full of people because of the fantastic use of sound for the film . (I'll need to write a comment/review for that first Quiet if I ever plan to rewatch it). So we're greeted with a thank you message from John Krasinki thanking the audience for coming out to see the film in theaters which was nice. Oh, there was also a trailer for Old which is the new one from M Night Shyamalan, and it looks really interesting! This one has just about the right amount of tension and feels as the first Quiet. Though for the story, it is highly recommended to watch the first Quiet before seeing part II so you know what the characters have to deal with and how they approach the situation using certain techniques and strats. Emily Blunt still plays the strong mother who does her absolute best to protect her children. It still has those The Walking Dead vibes and even a little more Stranger Things vibes now because of the kids who are integral to this entry and the choices they make. I noticed the duality during the tense moments, and how the scenes from two of the characters were edited together; This occurred twice in the film which was significant for this second installment. Again, I really like the use of sound and the song that plays repeatedly on the radio now has a meaning. There's a bit more action going on in this one than what I remember from the first Quiet, well paced, definitely more body counts for sure. I like where the story and the characters are headed so far. If they ever do a third installment, I hope we see the characters reunite to close it up as a trilogy or maybe a fourth since there are still four family members. Oh, and we saw this in Showcase XPlus for the Dolby Atmos surround sound experience. :sound:
John Krasinski has proven to have a decent level of craftsmanship behind the camera but this movie proves that he should be kept away from screenwriting.
I’m really surprised at a lot of the positive reviews because the plotting and beats in this movie are super dumb. There is a small hint at the level we are working at when we are with Krasinski on “Day 1” where we get a small peek at life before the aliens came and they make a choice to drop in an Easter egg reference to the toy spaceship that gets his child killed from the first one. It’s a seemingly innocuous little call back, foreshadow, wink, knudge, whatever, but it is a perfect example of the types of choices made in this movie. I mean not to ruin anything but essentially an alien pilots a boat in this film. Overall it just bugged me.
Both films are fantastic but second definitely scores higher than the first with more action, better camera work and affects were so much better and definitely was more noisier than the first and loved the ending and hoping it doesn’t end there because I’d love a 3rd movie, back story on the aliens would be nice but wouldn’t mind if they still keep it quiet..
This was so lame! It was written for people with an extra chromosome and to end it at very low point they stole the Mars Attack ending! Only thing to rescue is Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt's acting, the kids are written very poorly and just to be annoying and to act stupid to top it all that their acting is plain and without depth.
I give it a 5 for Blunt and Murphy but it's a mediocre film
Basically an episodic movie from the first one. On day 1 though, how did they figure out so quickly that they were attracted to noise?
A good follow-up to the first movie. I like how we're slowly learning more and more about the aliens without giving up the horror of them.
Nothing new to offer as a sequel, it is just like a reboot of the first one. I had high expectations from the sequel. I will see the third as well but this was a repeat of stuff and some new additions that do not offer anything to give you a surprise. It feels like you can go to the third part without having to see this one.
The terror continues in A Quiet Place Part II. Following the attack on their farm, the Abbott family escape to a friend’s compound in an abandoned factory where they intercept a radio signal from a group of survivors; leading Regan to attempt to find them to let them know about a new weapon that can be used against the aliens. The cast delivers strong performances once again, and the writers do a good job at creating suspense and tension. However, expanding the story raises some continuity issues and creates a few potential plot holes. Yet while it has some weaknesses, A Quiet Place Part II is a frightening film full of thrills.
For the love of god GIVE THIS FAMILY SOME SHOES
Quite a short movie. No depth at all, just bland running around. It felt more like an episode of a series than a movie.
Annoying Girl Does Stupid Shit Part II
Prefer the first film, but great to see the story fleshed out a bit more for what’s going on I. This universe.
Gave us some good scares but at the end i was like... that's it? I didn't really feel like they closed the chapter.
Both parts to this series are very well done and intriguing story. Excited to see the next pieces they come out with.
Great sequel, almost found it as good as the first one. I liked the smaller scale of the first one more.
Another great opening scene, I wonder what they'll do for part 3!
Cillian Murphy is a great addition to the cast.
2 small nitpicky thingies:
-Marcus appeared visibly older on Day 1 compared to his appearance in the original movie. Maybe it would be less noticeable if I didn't watch them back-to-back
-I watched too much "The Walking Dead" to care about the cliché people that went crazy. Luckily it was only a short scene.
I quite enjoyed the first one but unfortunately this didn't feel like it added much to it. I enjoyed the Day 1 opening but the rest felt pretty weak. Still don't know why you'd have a child in that world in the first place. If have dashed it on rocks the moment it endangered the family.
Nevertheless Blunty and her cohort would have been fine if the teenage boy would have just stayed fucking put like she'd asked. But as I said to a friend just this evening: Something happens to young boys when puberty hits and they seem to regress into absolute cavemen idiots for a good few years.
The culmination of it all felt like a student writer thinking they were being arty. The two siblings seizing the moment and taking out an alien almost simultaneously the boom roll credits. Utterly uninspired. And the CGI on the one the girl took out really detracted from the 'moment'.
It felt like an episode of a tv show rather than a film.
More standard fare. 'A Quiet Place Part II' is, for all intents and purposes, 'Stranger Things' meets 'The Walking Dead' (I am here for the Eleven and Rick crossover, tbf).
I may hold issues with the first film, though at least you can definitely class it as original given the use of sound. That 2018 film is very much enviroment-based, whereas this 2020 flick is far more human-based - and not in the best way. I still didn't dislike it, but I can't honestly say I found entertainment in it either - despite it having Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, two actors I tend to enjoy a lot. They are good here though, don't get me wrong.
I found this one to be more forgettable and ploddy, like does anything tangible actually happen? I'm struggling to remember anything, and I've only just finished watching. It's a pretty straightforward affair, this. I will note, however, that Millicent Simmonds does a neat job with her role throughout - an improvement from 'A Quiet Place', certainly (not that she is anything bad in that, mind).
Here's hoping Part III holds the first film's ilk. Admittedly, at least this one doesn't feature any moments as overtly stupid as its predecessor does (well, actually... OK, I'll let you off this time, Marcus).
Well that was even worse than the 1st one. Complete borefest. I give both films a combined total of 3/10. Have never seen such rubbish in years.
Disappointment. This was basically the first movie made over again, sans John Krasinski. Couple of scenes that were a teeny bit different in this one - they threw in the "bad human" element - but overall, this was nothing more than a clone of the first movie in a different setting. There were a couple of jump scares but apart from those, if you've seen the first movie, this won't do much for you. I really was hoping to be pleasantly surprised with this sequel but it was just far too much like the first one for me. I'll stop short of including spoilers in here; just suffice it to say that if you've seen the first one (which, in my opinion, was a fine movie) don't expect anything more out of this one. It's not a true sequel, IMO...just a rewrite of the original. Really disappointed in this one.
The first film was a big surprise and I found myself really loving it. Did it need a sequel? Absolutely not. Was this still watchable? Sure, but it wasn't nearly as great as the first. And you'll definitely be a bit lost if you haven't seen the first. All that being said there are some tense moments, but the plot feels like it doesn't know what it wants to focus on. More stealth scenes avoiding monsters? Just surviving? Trying to defeat the monsters? Examining the evils of human nature? Attempting to reconcile a utopia existing next to a monster ridden hell? A weirdly paced blend of them all? Yeah, it's the last one. But hey, it's got Cillian Murphy in it, so I'd watch it no matter how terrible it was.
More of the same - that pretty much sums up the sequel. Yet that is not really a problem here - more of an observation. Picking up immediately after the first film, what the sequel lacks in originality (given it is a follow up) it more than makes up for with tension. Cillian Murphy is a nice addition and Emily Blunt is as reliable as ever. Whilst it does repeat elements and themes from the first film, it is the two younger leads that shine here again and the filmmakers do a great job of adding context and building on the world they have created, but keeping the focus firmly on the characters we care about. Part III has a lot to live up to though and probably needs to do something different.
A fantastic sequel and they really follwed up the first part in a convincing way. Edge-of-your-seat thriller indeed.
different from the first one, s/o John Krasinski
it's Cillian Murphy's world, we're just living in it
Very tense and an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. But the ending is abrupt and disappointing, and the movie is fueled by dumb characters making dumb decisions.
In the first film we were thrown straight into the middle of the monster invasion, no real explanation, just a few clues and hints. For a story of this style that works, you do not want your audience to start thinking too hard about the situation and how it came about, because in the world of ‘The Quiet Place’ it collapses like wet cardboard. Instead get us into the problems and terrifying situation our protagonists are in. Plot holes and logic defying situations can easily be lost as the viewer gets excited and frightened by the set-up. With Part II we see the start and then jet forward to 474 days later and things start to unravel almost from the first minute.
It is a shame because the potential for expanding the situation or even trying to explain how it came about leaves the creators with limitless opportunities. From my point of view, they were mainly missed and wasted.
Krasinski plays a great everyman like Tom Cruise does and the opening set up catches our attention and interest. Even if the time that the ‘meteor’ crashing to Earth and first creature attack is preposterously short you will go along for the exciting ride. I am not sure how the unfortunate town’s folk realised that noise was the motivating factor for the monsters and my biggest bugbear which really itched me from the opening minutes was ‘what was their purpose?’ After all the long-legged creatures seem to seek out sound and then kill the thing making the sound. It is clear from many scenes and set ups that they do not eat them, so what do they do? Kill people and move on. Eventually they’ll be few people to kill pointlessly so will they not just get bored? This is the first huge logic-hole that you fall down, even if you are only partial paying attention and disappointingly there are many more.
The set-up, cinematography, scenery and CGI are all good and show that thought and money has gone into the project. The weakness is the structure and story of the film. It does not move on from the first film, resorts to a few well-warn cliches and really does have some huge gaps in noticeable logic.
The beleaguered heroes fighting against baddies or monsters or going into a haunted house and then immediately making their core weak by splitting up for no reason is so ‘pat’ and such a poor plot-device that is has been done to death as a comic trope on TV, films, books and sketches around the world. Yet, here in 2021 with season-actors and writers at the helm what do our heroes do? Yup split up into groups making them weaker and more susceptible to attack, capture and a horrible death. Therein lies the rub, this ‘device’ is cynically written to get more jump scares, more quiet, quiet, quiet, loud noises moments more screaming, more dreary seen-it-all before moments.
Everybody takes stupid and unnecessary risks that give them no advantage or benefit but thrust them into immediate danger.
Millicent Simmonds the fine young deaf actor, who has some great scenes shown from her point of view, despite the obvious and noble attempt by the makers to show her as resourceful and intelligent as anyone else, (more so than most which must be applauded), decides on the most stupid course of action. To leave her family to find the ‘island’ she has figured survivors are on by listening to a Bobby Darin’s Beyond the Shore. Whatever way you look at it she is deaf, so she does not know how much noise she is really making as she explores, and she cannot hear the clicking monsters or any noises they make if they are behind her. She just would not last on her own and being intelligent and resourceful she would know that. It is a massive logic hole and it is hard to climb out of it once you fall in.
Emily Blunt, not really give too much to get her acting teeth into here, despite being the main point of interest, and the wife of the director and writer, even more stupidly leaves her son, who is pointedly shown as being panicky and scared of everything, alone with her baby. A baby which must be hidden in a box with an oxygen mask if monsters are around all so she can go on an utterly pointless pilgrimage to her other son’s ‘grave’ marker. He was killed in the first movie. It is so stupid and silly it was at this point my expectations and joy dropped through the floor.
Cillian Murphy is only here to replace John Krasinski who was stupidly killed off in the first story when they presumably thought it was going to be a one-off film. He is a background character at the beginning, so it is obvious he is going to roll up with a meatier part later. There is a semi redemption theme to his storyline that was a bit weak and could have made an interesting and we sort of get hints about the death of his children and wife but it is wishy-washy and poorly written/editted.
As in all US end of the world films we also get the obligatory rapist-cannibal-murderers, it really does not say much for US writers opinions of their fellow citizens when every story involving a breakdown of society involving a mass-death event, the survivors are in general selfish psychopaths. To be honest if you are selfish and murder everyone you meet you will not last very long – history has proved this, not story writers.
The end of the film is frankly crap and is clearly hoping for a Part III. Critics like the film, I think it made money, so we will probably get tyre-dump fire called Part III in the next few years.
A Quiet Place: Part II is well filmed, looks good and the sense of desolation is realised in the scenery and locations. The acting ranges from very good to adequate and overall if you do not mind thinking about anything whilst you are watching and like monsters and being scared you will enjoy it.
The Film Cricket in the meantime could not help thinking about all the interesting things that could have been addressed. What was the purpose of the monsters? This could have been explored, because much like Sylvester Stallone’s directions to Michael Caine they are just ‘evil’, that’s it, evil. There could have been more time dedicated to how this affected the survivors, it was hinted in a very small way late in the film by Murphy’s character but this was really a plot device to show how a creature got to the island, albeit in an unlikely manner. It could have explored how resourceful survivors organised and fought back, but no, we went down the pyschos and isolated community route that hundreds of storywriters have gone down before.
A Quiet Place: Part II was disappointing for me, not only that but the longer it went on the more I saw it as a cynical jump-scare, money-grab. I am no genius but this film was logic-defyingly inane.
As a footnote instead of playing cryptic Bobby Darrin records to attract survivors why not just broadcast a loop tape of where you are and the information about how the monsters cannot swim and drown so people can get to the nearest island to be safe?
Really exciting continuation of the first movie. Very good acting and a thrilling storyline. There‘s nothing more one can hope for in a sequel.
For the most part this is a worthy sequel to the original. It’s tense, atmospheric and engaging thanks to the excellent actors within. However, the pacing drops occasionally and the ending was quite sudden, so while I enjoyed the film overall, I felt it could have been a little better.
Overall a very good movie with great perfomances and full of tense..Something is missing though i think in the plot and especially in the end i was thinking that this was the best scene of the movie not the ending scene for sure.It should be better 7.2/10
A step down from the first which used silence to build suspense. This one favors action and noise and diminishes itself in the act, but what else can you do with a sequel? You have to take a route and bigger (and louder) is certainly a path. So this is a decent monster movie but not the great one the first one was.
Just as good as the first one (which is always a crap shoot with a sequel). The suspense, the heroics, the cleverness are all in this plot. The writing and acting are superb. I think these two movies should be on everyone’s MUST WATCH list. Don’t be put off this being called horror. The creatures are ugly but this is driven by dramatic tension. (Trust me, I’m too much of a wimp to watch horror.) As with its predecessor, I give this film a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Dramatic Suspenseful Thriller]
Not a patch on the first film, but leagues ahead of most the below average drivel coming out nowadays on Netflix and Amazon. 7/10
IN THE BEST YEAR OF THE DECADE FOR HORROR MOVIES, THE AMAZING QUIET PLACE ARRIVED. AND THIS YEAR THE POSTPONED SEQUEL ARRIVES BECOMING THE MOVIE THAT JUSTIFIES A RETURN TO THE CINEMA. AND IT TRULY DOES. A LOT TENSE MOMENTS, WHERE THE FILMMAKING IS BRILLIANT (IMAGE AND OF COURSE SOUND), A SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE PLOT (THAT THREATS WELL THE ORIGINAL CHARACTERS AND BRINGS ONLY THE NECESSARY NEWNESS). AND ALL OF IT IS BETTER IN THE CINEMA WHERE THE SILENCE AND THE TENSION ARE STRONGER (IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLICATE AT HOME).
STILL, IT FAILS TO OVERCOME THE FIRST CHAPTER, BUT I BELIEVE THAT TO BE IMPOSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE!
excellent! cant wait for the next one!
After watching The Walking Dead for God knows how many seasons, I've seen every variation of the "some people are not worth saving" post-apocalyptic theme. I'm glad this sequel mostly stayed away from that.
Loved how there were multiple climaxes going at the same time. It reminded me of Dunkirk.
i'm still not ready to go into a movie theater so i'm really here for hbo max and paramount+ giving me the Best sound quality. i paid like $50 for my headphones and the sound is amazing?? don't watch it without solid headphones or a surround sound setup, i realized how much i was missing out on in the first five minutes just using my tv's speakers and started over. i think i liked the first one better just because it was more horror than action, but the acting in this was just as great as the first and i spent the whole last act of the film tense as all get out. also thank god for the runtime, i'm too old for two hour movies.
it never ceases to amaze me how many people go into sci fi films expecting realism. don't expect realism. there are alien monsters who can't see their prey if said prey isn't making noise, that's your baseline for suspension of disbelief.
The hate for this movie is kind of annoying.
People cry horror movies are getting boring and generic, cheap scares, etc.
Then this series comes out, while far from perfect, is a huge leap in the right direction. I feel this type of filmmaking its underappreciated
The tension, atmosphere and sound design in this movie series really helps it shine, building suspense. This approach is more enjoyable to me then BIG BLOCKBUSTER /Goofy action scenes every 10 seconds. Idk.
To add to it John Krasinski came from little to no filmmaking OR screenwriting experience really shows the talent he has. Sure, there are thing I could nit pick, but the overall enjoyability of this movie is high for me. I'm a harsh critic I feel, but there are really no deal breakers for me.
My only complaint is, like the first installment, the movie felt EXTREMELY short and like not much ground was covered.
Love a movie that isn’t engrossed in dialogue. A worthy part 2 that maintains your attention and ends with possibility of a part 3
I liked it, but was a bit disappointed that the ending was basically the same as the first one! If the ending of the third one is going to be the kid holding up the hearing aid to the speaker again I'm going to scream quietly into my pillow...can't they advance the plot a bit...assuming they're intelligent enough to come to Earth in the first place, presumably in some kind of ship, they can figure out noise cancelling technology?
Very good film I did find the pre title sequence very interesting and would have loved to see more of THAT story
Definitely as enjoyable as the first.
the first one is much better, but this one doesn't disappoint. the focus on the girl is great, but it seems like things have gone really well for her, she's deaf but she always seems to know when something makes noise or not, except when it clearly has a monster behind it. I think they should have given emmet and homeless people more depth. and [SPOILER] the monster didn't swim in the first movie?? and why the fuck doesn't it have no one watching the island??? they are literally calling the survivors there but they don't give a damn. a part I didn't like was the repetitions of the parallel, I already understood that, coincidentally, the protagonists are attacked at the same time.
Not bad overall. Good suspense moments, but not anything to get you're pulse racing.
We get a very brief return to the first day of the invasion before switching to "Day 474" - that's fine, but where did the baby come from? Dad (John Krasinski) died in the first movie, so who impregnated the mother? When did they get the opportunity to make and pop out the baby - without the aliens hearing them? Other than adding a perilous situation every now and again, the baby serves no purpose in this movie.
7.5/10
Finally it's out on demand! Excellent follow-up to the first film. Before going into this I had doubts. I was afraid it would be something like The Walking Dead or The Purge sequels where it's mostly action and drama with minor horror elements. It proved me wrong. It does everything a sequel should do. It expands the world and develops the characters further while also introducing great new characters. Although it feels kinda same-y and doesn't reinvent the wheel, the direction is solid backed by terrific performances. I love how every decision they make is supported with good reasoning. There's a glimpse of backstory as to how everything started before going into the continuation of the events, also plenty of edge-of-seat suspense and emotional moments. It's even more tense thanks to the sound department for enriching the whole experience. I just think that it ended a bit quickly. Overall it didn't disappoint and I think I enjoyed it much more than the first one.
“Run!”
‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ is a solid follow up to the first movie, which is no easy task to do. Even though I did feel it was the exact same film as Part I, but this time with some new characters added to the cast. Although, in terms of character development, much stronger and expands on certain elements from the first movie.
But still, despite being called ‘A Quiet Place’ it wasn’t quite...well, quiet.
John Krasinski has shown great promise as a director from the first movie and with the sequel it goes to show it wasn’t a fluke. Krasinski has the craftsmanship of building tension with the payoff being incredibly satisfying.
He also knows how to work with actors effectively and get the best performances out of everyone. The amazing Emily Blunt is once again amazing. The two child stars Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are both excellent with strong careers ahead of them. The new addition to the cast is Cillian Murphy, who is terrific as the deeply troubled old friend of Lee (Lee being John Krasinski’s character, just in case you didn’t know).
The sound work, like the first, is fantastic and heightens the little details. While the first movie focused more on silentness with the sound of a pin drop being the loudest thing ever in this “new world”. But this time the movie plays more into sound and the environment being noisier, hence where the sound work is front and centre. The cinematography looked beautiful and striking once again. So basically, everything on a technical level is superb.
However, I have my issues with the movie. The movie can be predictable at times, in terms of how certain scenes will play out and how things will be solved. With the genre being horror, it can be very annoying when the movie falls into old tropes. Such as characters making stupid or questionable decisions that narrative wise makes no sense, other than push the plot forward. That’s horror for you.
Also, a thing to note here, since the daughter is deaf, how does she know how much noise she is making? Like, if her footsteps are making noise or the doors or window, she pushes open. What if a door makes a creaking or squeaking sound? My bedroom door literally creeks and squeaks whenever I open or close the door, and the entire household can hear it, so imagine what that means for the “sound killing monsters” that’s around. So really, she’s at risk and shouldn’t be going out on her own.
Other than that, putting aside my issues, I still think this is a solid sequel that’s worth checking out. If you like the first one, then you’re going to like this one. If not, then I don’t know what to say to you. It’s up to you, I guess.
Overall rating: LOUD NOISES!
It basically holds the level of the first part. It is less dramatic, but the rapid development of the plot explains the rush to make it to the finale.
Loses the tight, concise structure that made the first so great, but still manages to squeeze out a great entry into the AQP franchise. The ending feels like it's struggling for an exit, but the first 75% is some great tension and horror that makes this sequel more than worthy.

Tense, great suspense. Really enjoyed :wink:this sequel. Can't wait for part 3. We'll worth a watch :ok_hand:
Bloody Good Movie, Bring on Part III
Krasinski expands the story by reducing the writing team. The implicit is now explicit, the tension of silence is now the anguish of noise. Female empowerment pointed out at the end of Part I occurs, but in a disappointing way (mother Blunt is, again, in the background). Parallel plots are a trick to double the suspense, but it works. The concept of family, however, (mother/son, "father"/daughter) is conventional.
Quiet Place and Bird Box exist in a universe where people with disabilities ddon't exist or they're shunned from society . That's the only to explain one person with a hearing aid or in the case of Bird Box a school for the Blind in the middle of the goddamn woods!! Smh.....
A well made sequel. I admit I would have liked to see a bit more backstory, but the lack of it didn’t ruin the movie for me.

Amazing. It flows on nicely from the last film, but never gives too much away about the aliens, adding to their mystery and menace.
As with the first I liked the slow build up of tension. Then the multiple threats, of everyone being confronted at once in different places, as though there’s nowhere to run or hide. And the survival ideas are clever too, so you never know what’s coming next. If it spawns a third, I think there’s still new ground to cover and it would be a great trilogy.
