A genuinely feel good movie. I didn't know the story and surprised that it was a true one, really inspiring and loved the cat.
A sentimental but heart warming story. Brought back memories of the people I knew who struggled with drug addiction, those who made it and those who didn't. For those who judge such people.. you have no idea of the struggles and hardships that lead to that lifestyle. Made me thankful for my own cat .. she is a real life saver too! A good film, worth seeing.
This was a great inspiring story!!! Glad there's still great films like this.
let's put it this way shall we: SEE IT!
A really great story that deserves to be known!
The only flaw in this movie is not to give the real temporal notion of events. It seems that everything happened in just over a year when in fact it was almost a decade.
That's got to be the best film I've seen starring a cat, and I must say a great 'purr'formance from Bob and not forgetting Luke that did a super job in his role. It's cool that the real cat was used for scenes along with other cats. That was an amazing story that it It's based on, hopefully the film told it right because I thought it was a beautiful film with a deep message that Is reality everyday. I liked the first person style with showing the picture from Bob's point of view at moments.
Worth your time, I'm surprised It's took me this long to watch, It's made me want to get the book and of course re watch in the future.
Glad there are still great story's in this world that make you believe not everything is utter shit and that there can be hope.
Can we just appreciate how Bob the Cat is named as one of the actors?
Just thinking about the fact that the actual cat filmed a movie with a stranger (the actor, not the actual James Bowen) is fascinating! Well done!
This was beautiful, adorable, funny.
Oh and the actual James was on the movie. That was cool.
I loved it.
A great fun loving story that needs to be told!
I read the book 10 years ago when I moved to England. I've always loved the story and three weeks ago I finally got the courage to watch the movie. I cried just by reading the hook "Sometimes it takes 9 lives to save 1". I've had this movie for three weeks now. I bought it on Google play, as a bluray and a dvd which I'm gonna send back to Holland to my mom so she can watch it. So I've had this movie for 3 weeks now and this is the third time I'm watching it.
I read the book again today and I found the movie is so different. But it gets all the moments of the book and makes it into a story fit for a movie. By all means, watch this film. But if you get the chance, read the book. It'll only take you an afternoon but it'll add so much to the narrative.
Like, did you know James started a record label that still exists?
A great and hearty - true life - story.
I watched 'A Street Cat Named Bob' back when it was released at the cinema (remember them?) and thoroughly enjoyed it; something that hasn't changed just over four years on. It's a very touching story, crafted together very nicely. I also love cats, so I felt all the cuteness that this offers in that area.
The cat(s) steals the show, but big credit also to Luke Treadaway who plays lead character James. He is superb in this. Ruta Gedmintas, Serafina herself, and Joanne Froggatt play their part too.
Interested to find out what the, I have to say very unexpected, sequel has to offer.
RIP Bob.
You took care of James and gave him a reason to get up in the morning while he struggled with addiction. Bob was a good boy.
Having read numerous books about Bob (written by James Bowen), I was curious about what the DVD would be like. I was especially interested as the part of Bob was played by Bob himself.
This is the story of a young man, who by way of what life had thrown at him, found himself on the streets and a
drug addict to boot. After ending up in hospital after an overdose, he is found a place to live to try to get his life
back on track. Along comes Bob, also homeless and injured. Together they become quite a team, with James
traveling to his busking gigs with Bob riding on his shoulder (and on the public transport), scarf around his neck.
They attract a lot of attention, with James being approached by an editor, wishing to tell his life story. He does,
and the tale of James and his cat Bob is told in many ways – children’s picture books, teenage and adult non-fiction.
Bob is one very cool cat and plays his role very well.
If you are after action-packed stuff, this is not the movie for you. It moves along at a gentle pace, beginning at a
difficult time in James’ life, but ending positively. Good watch!
BR
Even this is a drama it still is a warm, hearty movie. Not sure what cat was thinking or why people liked him so much. It all looks too much like a made-up story than based on facts, because everything happens at the same time. It makes me want to read the book to carve out my own opinion based on the first hand story.
