Abducted in Plain Sight 2018

This is painful to watch. Obviously a sad story, but for Fs sake. Those people. You can’t help but feel like slapping them around. Man!

I don't know what to say...the matter is pretty serious, sexual abuse is the worst thing and when it's about kids there is not a word bad enough to describe it.. If anything even close to what is narrated is really happened, respect to the woman who grew up, managed to leave all behind her. Point is the while watching this and hear the story they tell, you can't avoid to think that any adult can't be so naive and dumb...period. No excuse. I can believe a kid might be easy to manipulate...but to let a grown up man to sleep with your daughter in her bed...really???? Come on...seriously? Those two are as guilty as the one who took advantage of them all.
The story is so unbelievable that it was hard to pay attention to it...guess i reached a point when it was too much..
If i think about it as fiction, it would be too stupid.
If i think about it as a documentary telling a real story, it just makes you mad to think humans can be so dumb.

It's hard to believe how stupid some people can be.

This story is truly disturbing. Fact really is stranger than fiction.

It's really important to spread the awareness of how grooming works and that, if it happens, it is most likely someone the parents and children know/respect/trust/even love and that not only the children are targeted, but also the parents, who need to be manipulated as well in order for it to work. But this documentary was poorly and tastelessly executed (Who thought these reenactments in the style of home videos from the 1970s were a good idea?) and failed to inform on a deeper level about said pathological behaviour.

Just massively frustrating that

1) Those parents couldn't see what was going on before their very eyes
2) 'B' seemed to escape justice for most of his life.

A really wretched subject. It was probably very well made but I was a bit too angry and disturbed to notice.

This film should include a trigger warning for any decent human.

[Netflix] Tells a true story that mixes kidnappings, pedophilia and alien messages, full of wrong decisions and surprising script twists. The real events are so fascinating that only the interviews with its protagonists make a mediocre documentary interesting, even if the director tries to cover the story with somewhat cheesy recreations.

to paraphrase john mulaney: they did not have time to unpack all of that, and the doc was worse off for it

It's kind of crazy that these sorts of things happen in real life. My head is still reeling.

I can't believe what I just watched and heard. This is one of the craziest and sick stories I have ever watched. I feel for the family but some of the choices these parents made blew my mind. I kept thinking to myself I really need to talk to my daughter. This is the kind of show that everyone should watch so they know that their are people out there that can really manipulate you to do anything. When she called after being taken the second time to talk to her sister and father, it got to me. Oh and to top it off that the young girl who was kidnapped is an well known actress just blew my mind!!

These have to be the worst, most neglectful parents in the world. These people truly enraged me beyond words and everything that happened to that little girl was 100% their fault. I’d absolutely never forgive them and I actually think they needed to be put in jail for child neglect/endangerment (or, at the very least, have their children taken away as they were clearly unfit to care for them). Most of all, they definitely do not deserve to get a platform like this as if they’re the victims too when they’re obviously not; they’re villains, they’re monster, they’re selfish morons who never lifted a finger to protect their innocent little girl. Awful documentary.

Most messed up thing I’ve ever seen

Naivety doesn't apply to the outright stupidity of these parents.

Well I don't even know what to say....this was insane!!! The whole thing was crazy from start to finish. Extremely interesting from the viewers point of view though.

What the heck is going on?

That's the feeling you have the entire time you watch this. Every step of the way the story just gets more bizarre.

A crazy documentary about trusting parents, a child abuser/abductor, and a little girl caught in the middle. You'll probably feel like you need a shower after watching this one, but the ?good? news is that they very quickly reveal the little girl is still alive.

in the end I was left completely baffled, angry, sad, and shocked.

Would definitely recommend to the true crime crowd.

This can't be real.....but how could anyone make it up? There will be a point when watching this where you will honestly think to yourself, "WTF!?" When Jan's father jerks Bob off in a car, I thought the big WTF!? and how dumb could you be?!

This story is so excruciatingly sad that men like Bob Berchtold should, by the long arm of the law, just disappear. That would be better for everyone.
