What a great movie. I had a smile on my face during the entire two hours of playtime. Beautiful cinematography, fantastic music by Yann Tiersen and an impresive acting performance by Audrey Tautou.

Turned a cynic into a romantic in less than 2 hours, pure magic!
For me this is one of those movies I will come back to time after time. Long after the CG thrills of hyped fantasy movies and big budget Hollywood productions have faded and been forgotten, Amelie will still be jumping around in my heart, doing all those silly and charming little things I wish I dared to do too...

Something that is a certainty: When you finish watching the film, you will have a smile on your face.
That said, the soundtrack is very good with the film, which has a fairly constant rhythm/cadence.
It is a sweet, happy and funny film. The actress is perfect for the role.

I've loved this movie since it was released. One of the cutest, quirkiest love stories ever filmed. Easy to fall for the characters and their beautiful world. Colorful and bright with fantastic cinematography.
The cinematography is gorgeous, rivalled only by Audrey herself. I'm a huge fan of director Jean-Pierre Jeunet and he doesn't put a foot wrong here.
Next week I'm flying from Australia to soak up Parisian life for a month or so and couldn't think of a better film to get me in the mood (and to brush up on my French; I apologise in advance France)
Absolute magic :)
Quirky yet fun, Amélie is entertaining in a way that few films are, and it is totally re-watchable. I don't recall if there is a dubbed English option available, but whatever you do, don't use it - there is something magical in watching the French language version, you're truly better off with the subtitles, believe me.
An incredibly heartfelt film, with an engaging narative about a woman and her journey to find love and meaning in life, bettering the lives of an array of colorful supporting characters along the way. The beautiful cinematography, pristine direction and great soundtrack helps to create a charming and comforting atmosphere.
I love Amelie! the style of this movie is amazing and it makes me feel nostalgic... i love the beginning of the movie, it makes me feel like being a kid again :)
I’d never seen this, so 20 years after it came out I thought I would lol - I loved how it was set in the modern era but was somehow timeless and almost felt like the past, at least for me, it captivated me.

This might possibly be the most French movie I have ever seen. The cinematography and colors are fantastic and it's fun to have a character that is so energetic and caring. I definitely will have to be in a specific mood to watch this again, but I really enjoyed it for being so different.
Bored by the monotony of everyday life and unimpressed by her world's more common, mundane pleasures, a sprightly young French woman resolves to add spice wherever the opportunity presents itself. In most cases, that means painting disruptive colors over perplexed neighbors and acquaintances - delivering a long-forgotten keepsake here, pulling an impish series of low-key pranks there - but as the exultant mood sweeps her away, she also lets herself slip, dreamily, into the net.
This leads to a wonderfully offbeat, apprehensive game of cat-and-mouse, as her urge to continue the ruse conflicts with her desire to remain blissfully anonymous and romantically unattached. Cleverly disguising its genre for much of the run time, Amelie is an ambush of a romance picture; joyful and free-spirited without any of the dramatic hang-ups that I usually find so annoying about such films.
Audrey Tautou is sublime in the title role, a performance that marries the fleeting, mischievous whimsy of adolescence with the empathy and awareness of adulthood. That's a difficult, but essential contrast, and Tautou has it locked down. As she goes, so goes the film. A quaint, pleasant, easygoing little wonder that always manages to make me feel warm and happy inside.
A beautiful love story and i love the script
A quirky, fanciful lark. I was reminded of this title during the 90th Oscar season (it was nominated for 5 Oscars in 2002) so I thought I'd give it a watch. By the time the film got to the wandering gnome subplot I realized I'd seen it before (is this where they got the idea for the Travelocity Gnome?). This film starts slowly, as it establishes the peculiarities of Amelie and the people who populate her world, but once it catches up to her present it became enjoyable for me. The film relies on the elfen charm of Audrey Tautou which I found captivating. I give this film a 7 (good) out of 10. {Fanciful RomCom]

This is one of my favorites movies by now.
Such a nice movie. Its looks beautiful, has great music, and fantastic acting form Audrey Tautou. Watching this made me happier.
What a sunkissed beauty this is. Amelie hits all the right notes to create a harmony which is seriously missing these days in real life. This movie brings to life to the feeling of doing something good for others. And through that act of seeing the happiness in others, you are rewarded. This guardian angel like feel is so romantic and wholesome that it showers like stardust in all the scenes.
Amelie is an introvert person. Her strange parents are to be blamed for her personality. She is a bit timid, without friends and lives a lonely simple life. One day in her apartment, she discovers a tiny box kept hidden by the previous owner. With a stroke of the divine will, she decides to find the owner of the decades-old box. This tiny roll of snowflake snowballs into her later life where she finds immense pleasure and meaning in making others happy unbeknownst to them.
In these endeavours, her paths cross with Nino, another esoteric imaginative soul who collects discarded photos from photo-booths and creates photo albums from those. Seeing those albums itself is one high point of the film. She likes him, but her timid and introvert personality would never allow her to just engage, so she takes a support of her creativity and imagination, probably to check if Nino is even worth allowing to enter her shell.
Amelie is a beautiful film. The attention to all the characters shows. By the end of the film, you start caring about every one of them. There is a glass man painter who repaints Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party every year, there is Georgette, the resident hypochondriac of the cafe Amelie works at. Even the annoying Joseph is worth caring about a bit.
Then there is music. Yann Tiersen piano music engulfs you with the emotions on screen. I guess the music is one clear operative factor for this film.
Overall, it is worth a watch to see how happiness flows. It is higher on the list of films which can easily uplift your mood.
The original title of the film is Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie.
Jeunet at his best!!! A classic!!
There was a lot to like about this movie - it is a quirky and very original story about outsiders, and in a lot of ways I could relate to the lead character. It may have overstayed its welcome by a few minutes but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the film.
