Much like Dazed and Confused or Linklater's other works, it's a window into the lives of teens in middle America for a night, only this one in the early 60s. It's an affectionate, unbiased look at the days of sock hops, drive-in's and cruising culture. It's fun enough if you like these kind of movies
One of a kind movie. Teenage cruisin and racing in California in the early 60s was a thing and this is the only movie I know about that shows it. I liked it a lot. I'd even say it's George Lucas second best (directed) movie. By the way, license plate of the yellow Deuce Coupe was THX 138. Nice.
It's still a good film.
Just a typical hang out movie with a great soundtrack. I didn't really like many of the characters but they did some crazy stuff back in the 60s.
I know, classic and all but I found it really boring. Mid movie I honestly lost the story cause I just did not care. Dudes talking about girls, some car switching and then what we all know, buying beer under 21.
So, no great shakes, but very sweet and nostalgic with some good acting. Worth catching.
It works structurally, but the characters and situations are just not interesting
a 50's night out.

Highly stylised look at crusing culture in its centre Modesto, CA in 1961 where director George Lucas grew up. This film is the original Dazed and Confused. We follow a bunch of teenagers on a fairly plotless but fun night out. Some of them are spending their last night in town before going off to university. The music and visuals are great. Some of the dialogue is ace and the odd couple roadster and pre-teen B plot is fun. I'm not sure If watch again due to the lack of a plot but I enjoyed it once around.
